Things I hate about fanficsFanfics are great. It gives you the freedom to daydream on someone else's creativity. Fanfics are great, but I HATE IT when an awesome fic gets DISCONTINUED! What do you hate most about fanfics?
....I really can't find the patience to read cookie cutter fics. What really pisses me off is that these fanfics get more reviews and credit than they deserve but while most well written fics are unrated or not reviewed. It's bullshit to be honest. But what can you do?
|UnderdogAsh||I hate (and it's just me) fanfictions that focus more on erotic issues than a story...it's hard to find good stories to read. :(|
Getting The HookMost fan fics that I've read don't really grab my attention. If you want to grab someone, give it some drama and suspense to keep anyone hooked.
Oooh! A post!I hate when people go gallumping off with ridiculous ships, then practically flame anyone who doesn't agree. I mean, really?
|MCRmygirl||I hate when a writer has an amazing lead and plot but simply is not a good writer. I'm sorry, but it's true. (by the way, what does Erotic mean? First word in three months I didn't know. New record.)|
....^erotic means stories with sexual content or something.
My problems is mostly MCR since I that's the main fanfics I read, and it seems no one has originality anymore. The 'characters' are either on tour with the band with the same ole 'been abused or being abused' and Gerard or one of the guys comes to the rescue. I mean really? I feel like some people take that plot and try to make it as their own or a different spin off the same plot. I've read at least 5 of them in a row.
The other problem are the ones with no plot line at all. It's all the same crap and it's absolutely astonishing these pieces of junk actually get more reviews and rates versus a story that has direction and is written so well, they don't even get reviews at ALL.
I don't care how mad people get, MCR stories suck and they've really lost their talent at least since this year.
So thanks people. For making all the good writers leave and making us stuck with crap filled stories. Thank you really.
|vampirequeen7||I hate it when characters in a fanfic are entirely OUT of their characters. Original characters are okay to experiment with, but I can only go so far reading a fanfic that has twisted up original characters. I mean, really now.|
Finally a Place to RantI cannot STAND when something's not written well. I DON'T flame just because something's not written well - that's a ridiculous reason to flame - but it's frustrating because, often, the people who can't write well also can't speak properly or take constructive critisim. I adore it when an author that I've critised comes to me and asks what they could do better. I know that I'm by no means a great writer, but it means a lot that they are mature enough to ask what they could do better rather than flaimg you for not loving their stories.
I absolutly agree that OOCness sucks. It's incredibly difficult to read a story like that - after all, isn't that one of the main reasons for fanfiction? If I wanted all the characters to be different, I'd write the story myself. OOC stories are just absolutly atrocious and... eeugh.
fanfic yucks~when someone has credentials they don't have (like when you think Oh I'm sure ______'s mom knows how to be a brain surgeon or whatever ~ hypothetical example)
~as someone said, where the sex IS the plot ~ lame rolls eyes
~past tense mixed with present in the same sentence or if it's unclear who is talking to whom..
With my own writing I get annoyed with lack of structure, endless babbling pointless story, (both of which won't happen this time!) and trying to be versatile and tasteful in erotic scenes.
