Neville must have been very persuasive to get little miss Girl Guide to go so ruthless. I would agree that it's a solid part of Hermione's character, just not one easily engaged

Actually, even though it wasn't deliberate, he started the wheels turning the very first time he met her, with the conversation about bigots that Neville had with her Father, and Hermione had been thinking about the bigotry a lot since then. i just chose to have it happen off screen.
