It's great to see how James thought toward the whole situation.
Among all the people in this world, he's the only one Harry could/would trust. Glad that he didn't fail Harry.

I'm glad you liked the brief glimpse into James's psyche. While this is more of a filler chapter to better help the pacing of the story, explaining James's view on Porteur's arrival and actions and showing the depth of his relationship with Harry seemed prudent to me, so people could better understand James's decisions later on.
