While the setup comes "out of the blue", so to say, I always thought there isn't enough music at Hogwarts - the stupid schoolsong doesn't count in my opinion. Being a hobbyist on several musical instruments myself, I do sometimes dream about the possibilities of combining music and magic...
I suppose some might think Parv's kissing him at the end is over the top - but those probably have never felt the elation one can feel when playing music together for the first time works out all right - or even better...
Could have been longer - I'd LOVE a continuation.
