This was really different than anything I've ever read.
So I guess since the responses build up things get lost and everything is confusing but the reader knows and POOR RAY HE IS COMPLETELY CLUELESS
It would be nice to have more, because this was really good! But when I think about it, this exists... best... as a short story like this where their dramatic lives can go in any way.
