"Bob"? The Founders named the hat Bob? Why not something more in giving with the times like "Alphaseus (Alf to my friends) Haberdasher"? NOW THAT is a believable name for a hat!
I have to say, Harry is written a bit Mary Sue but tolerable so far. The meeting with Percy was just wrong. Percy is almost always written as a prig, but Harry's breaking his hand was too much. You are not going to change someone for the better by bullying them.
