Review for A Different Breed

A Different Breed

(#) IWCT 2006-04-17

Loved the story -- well first chapter. The growlithe idea was great. Not enough stories with them in them as just plain ol' growlithe, rather than some special mystical being (actually, there is a depressing lack of pokemon stories with normal, regular pokemon in them period.)

I love Taja's personality, so far. You can tell she's just a puppy, and that's really kind of refreshing.

Although, I wouldn't think that grolithe and vulpix would get along, al that well. Growlithe are essentially taken from guard dog breeds, while vulpix are all fox. Guard dogs do NOT get along with foxes, foxes being evil sneaky pests who eat chickens --

However, author's perogative, I guess. And I can't help admiring foxes, and vulpixes, and the two trainers seem like good friends, so it would probably be a bad idea for their pokemon to get into arguments, a lot.

Rambling now, shutting up.

Author's response

Re: Growlithe and Vulpix. It's really a matter of author's perogative. Taja being a puppy, I don't think she'll much recognize Vulpix as being a different species. It's more of a matter of does she like the way it smells and will it play with her.

I also took it from the fact that in games G/S/C and above, Growlithe and Vulpix are capable of mating. That says to me that they're not mortal enemies in the way that hounds and foxes are.

More coming soon!
