(#) Nosferatum 2008-07-14 11:19:27 AMAbout your question: one of slytherins, I guess. One, not belonging to the Malfoy clique. Zabini, Greengrass, Davis... Someone like this. Definitely not any of gryffindors or hufflepufs. May be some ravenclaw as they are mostly omitted in original hpverse.
- I suspect that this Harry would go for the most interesting or useful acquaintances available. A top Hufflepuff student, or a smart and edgy Slytherin. If he chooses a Gryff, it would be as a playmate - and certainly not Ron, who can't be trusted to keep his mouth shut. Neville has always had quiet depths, and Harry might like someone who is deferential but not weak.
(#) whatareyouevensaying 2008-07-14 01:13:35 PMOf the canon characters? No one. I could actually see a friendship developing between him and Hermione over time. He'd infuriate her and she'd eventually come to amuse him. But that wouldn't work in the short-term. I think he'd even annoy Fred and George, truth be told. No guy would be willing to put up with him, and of the girls, only those that were most attracted to him would. Hate to tell you, but you're going to have to make a friend up.
Looking forward to more.
(#) apocalypse_thou 2008-07-14 01:13:40 PMI love this story. It's truly brilliant. I'm glad you put Harry in Hufflepuff. None of the houses fit him at all, but at least he can make little children cry in Hufflepuff.
The son of Dracula thing was inspired.
I would like to see Harry friends with Greengrass or Davis. The whole "Ice-Queen" thing would probably go well with Harry's attitude.
- Canon? Hermione and he would annoy each other, Ron is too gullible, Luna would likely like Harry but she'd drive him nuts. Harry would likely pick up strays -- those picked on by others (maybe even Hermione in the long run) so any Huffpuff picked on by others who look to Harry for protection.
You can't look at the plots logically, or you'll give yourself a headache. Trying to figure out the calender or the class schedule could give you a stroke
- Harry will have competition as the House cynic of his year, in the person of Zacharias Smith. From the Lexicon:
"A real winner of a guy who seems to offend people every time he speaks. Zacharias joined Dumbledore's Army after overhearing Ernie and Hannah talking about it, and was immediately a constant skeptic, not shutting up until Fred and George threaten him with a “long and lethal-looking metal instrument” and Harry pointed out that Expelliarmus, a spell Zacharias scoffed at, had saved his life while dueling with Voldemort.
"A year later, he was hardly a year wiser, pestering Ginny for details about the Department of Mysteries until she got fed up and nailed him with a Bat-Bogey Hex. Zacharias also commentated for a Quidditch match that year, making the Gryffindors so mad that the moment the match ended, Ginny barreled straight into him on her broom. Finally, Zacharias ended his illustrious Hogwarts career in style by not only being the only D.A. member not to fight in the Battle of Hogwarts, but by beating down first years to be the first one out when the school was evacuated."
We know that he is in Harry's year, since his name appears on the list of students in his year, visible in the old "Harry and Me" TV interview.
- I have to say, I did see him as a Slytherin... survivalinstinct, the way he manipulates the Dursley's and I just associate cynic with Slytherin really :-P but the Hufflepuff thing is a lot more amusing :-P
which character would he get along with... I like Mongo's suggestion of Zacharias! though I'm not sure because the coward part... Harry does scare the others a lot doesn't he? :-p
personally I like Blaise Zabini, but I have no idea what his character is like really and I can't see a Slytherin hanging out with a Hufflepuff voluntarily...
I think Luna could probably stand himbut she won't be around until next year.
love the Tepes joke btw. my brother and I are reading the story out to each other and lol-ing.
I hope you'll continue soon!
