wanna find out wtf happened to Brook? Read away.
That night I was so ridiculously tired, but I still couldn't sleep. Brooklyn had passed out long before me, and she lay motionless beside me. I tossed and turned a few times, and finally stopped, on my side facing her. She was laying stiffly on her back, and she looked pretty uncomfortable. I traced my finger over the M scar on her arm. She made a soft noise, and I quickly retracted my arm. Her blackened eyes slowly fluttered open, and she smiled at me. "Hi," she whispered. "Can't sleep?"
I shook my head. "Did I wake you?"
"Yeah, it's okay." she turned on to her side, gingerly. "Why can't you sleep?"
"There's too much going on in my head right now," I replied, extending my hand to tuck her hair behind her ear.
She sighed, pushing her cheek into my hand. "Like what?"
I pressed my lips together tightly dreading the question I was about to ask. "Well...I just...Can you tell me what happened to you?"
She stumbled over her words. "Mikey... can we just...I mean...I'm okay. Isn't that what matters?"
"I don't think you are okay," I replied, moving closer to her.
"I really don't want to talk about it right now," she said, planting a kiss on my lips. "Later okay?"
I shook my head, frustrated. "Kay." I replied, turning onto my back and staring at the ceiling.
"Okay, now you're mad. I'm sorry I don't feel like bringing all that up right now." she said, staring at my profile intently.
My chest rose and fell in a large sigh. "Its fine...I'm sorry for asking."
She cuddled up next to me and quickly fell back asleep. I knew my nocturnal behavior would continue for quite some time.
Knowing my brother, he would have been the only one awake as early as I was the next morning. I called him and invited him over for coffee. Brooklyn was still sound asleep.
"You look like shit Mikey," he told me bluntly.
I gave him a look, "Thanks," I replied sarcastically.
"Sorry, but when is the last time you slept?" he asked, taking a sip from his cup.
I followed suit, "Uh...two, three nights ago?"
I shrugged. My eyes felt like they were on fire. "I'll crash eventually."
"Coffee probably isn't helping with the situation."
"Coffee or no coffee, I still can't sleep."
He looked at me sympathetically. "What's bothering you so much?"
"I just worry...about Brook."
I could tell he wanted to say 'I told you so'. But he didn't. "What do you worry about?"
I sighed. "Well, she won't tell me what the hell happened to her."
His wrinkled his forehead. "She won't? I know."
I scooted my chair closer to him. "You do? Tell me!"
"She said that she got into some guy's car–"
"The asshole in the Hummer."
"Yeah, and he drove to that alley by my house, and figured she was going to sleep with him I guess, but she refused and he beat the living shit out of her."
I searched my memory for the guy's licence plate number, but failed.
"She said that was all she remembered, and she wouldn't let them do a rape kit on her...and didn't want to get the police involved. I don't know why the hell not."
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat. "Thanks for telling me," I choked out.
"Yeah, don't mention it to her, okay?" I nodded in response. He looked at me, the empathic expression still gracing his features. He then moved his stare to behind me. "Morning Brook." he said.
I turned around attempting to stay calm and collected. She smiled, "Good morning Gerard."
She slowly staggered forward. I grabbed her and pulled her onto my lap. She laughed and stole my cup of coffee.
"Well," Gerard said, standing up and putting his cup in the sink, "I should go I guess. I have plans with Jaycee. See you later," he said, giving a small wave, and heading out.
Brooklyn turned to face me, placing her broken lips gently on mine. She looked ten times better, and even seemed happier. Maybe everything would get a little better. Maybe I'd actually sleep tonight. I traced my finger over her partially healed, self-inflicted wound. She pulled her arm away and stared at her lap. "I need to shower," she said getting up.
"Want some company?" I asked.
She smirked. "Very funny."
I hadn't been kidding, but I shrugged and went to the living room to watch some t.v. I passed out shortly afterward.
A/N: Hello, so I DO realize this chap is painfully short. I dunno, it just had to go in there. More drama and whatnot to ensue shortly, no worries. :) And you all did REALLY well for reviews last time!! COOKIES TO THOSE WHO DO IT AGAIN!! hahha
