Neither was surprised to see Eric waiting for them. V had a defence all ready, but Eric didn’t even seem to notice her.
She looked at him coldly.
“What now? This isn’t an interrogation Eric. I’m not one of your suspects you can trick you know.”
“I know that. And I’m really sorry about this morning. I don’t know what I was thinking. You don’t have to tell me everything. You have your own life.”
He took a deep breath.
“But that’s not all. We’ve been together over two years now, and it’s been the most incredible two years of my life.”
Becki nodded uncertainly. What was he babbling about?
Eric took another deep breath, pulling a small box from his pocket and kneeling down.
“Will you marry me?”
V gasped. The whole lobby went silent. Becki stood in the midst of it all, and she was laughing. She looked down at Eric, his expectant face.
She shook her head at him, still laughing slightly.
Authors Notes: I distinctly remember when this was first ever published. I left it there for a week. After about three days, I had V threatening to fly over and FORCE me to write the next chapter! hehe
