The Third Time Is A Charm
4 ReviewsBrendon goes to a spiritual coach because his mom won't leave him alone if he doesn't go. But there he finds out about his previous life that he doesn't quite understand. Until he meets the new guy...
“No, I don’t believe in all that ‘previous life’ crap.”
“Just do it for me then.”
“Will you leave me alone then?”
His mom nods and smiles.
“Fine, I’ll go. But if it doesn’t work, don’t blame me.”
“It will work, trust me,” his mom smiles and she gives him a hug.
Two days later they are at the house of the spiritual coach.
“Brendon? You can come with me now,” the old lady smiles.
Brendon gets up out of the very uncomfortable chair and follows the woman into a small room.
“Okay, you can lie down on the couch,” the woman smiles as she sits down on the chair.
“Okay, I’ll explain how this works. I’ll bring you in some sort of a trance, and then I’ll talk to you. You won’t hear it, but you will respond to it. And then you’ll see who you were or what happened in another life.”
“That’s all?” Brendon asks surprised.
“Yes.”
“Wow, cool,” Brendon laughs, happy that he can just lie there for a while, doing nothing.
“Can I begin?”
“Yep, do your thing.”
A couple of minutes later, Brendon is in trance and he sees a field.
He walks through the field and end up in a small living room.
He lies down on the couch and falls asleep.
Before he knows it, he is in another time…
“Brendon, come on, we’re already late,” Jon says.
“Dude, it’s 1961,chill out,” Brendon says and he just walks slowly.
“What does that have to do with anything?” Jon asks confused.
“Nothing, just… chill, okay?”
Brendon keeps getting distracted by all the hippies that are playing music, and he turns around to see who is playing a pretty good song.
He sees a skinny guy with long hair and old clothes, playing the guitar and singing the song with the other people.
The guy looks up and looks straight into Brendon’s eyes.
They both feel something weird and can’t stop looking at each other.
Until Jon grabs Brendon’s arm and pulls him away.
They go to their meeting and of course get the job.
Mostly because the boss was Jon’s father.
“Come on man, let’s go home.”
“No, you go home, I ehm, I have to do something…”
“Brendon, are you going to that hippie dude?”
“No, just… just leave, okay?”
“Fine, whatever,” Jon looks pissed off and leaves.
Brendon goes to the park and sees that the guy is lying on the ground.
“Hey,” Brendon says.
The guy looks up and smiles.
“Hey man.”
“I’m Brendon.”
“Ryan, nice to meet you,” the skinny guy smiles.
“You’re a good singer…”
Brendon sits down.
“Thanks man. But aren’t you supposed to hate my music? Being one of those business guys and everything.”
“I’m not like all of them.”
“So you’re different?”
“Yeah, a lot.”
“So what’s so different about you?” Ryan asks, looking like he doesn’t believe him.
“Well, they all hate people like…”
“People like me?”
“Yeah… And they hate that everyone makes out with each other. And that no one cares about who’s gay or not. And stuff like that. That just pisses me off,” Brendon says angry.
“It pisses you of that guys make out with each other?”
“No, I mean, it pisses me off when they say it’s wrong.”
“So you’re gay?”
“I… I mean… I can’t…”
Ryan sees the pain in Brendon’s eyes.
“You can’t be gay, even though you are, just because your friends and family would think it’s gross.”
“Yeah…”
“So they would hate me too?”
“Are you gay?”
Ryan nods.
“Then yeah, they would hate you. Just like they would hate me.”
Ryan leans forward and kisses Brendon on the cheek.
Brendon’s face turns completely red and he feels weird.
But before he can say anything, Ryan kisses him on the lips.
Brendon kisses him back and slides his tongue in Ryan’s mouth.
For a couple of minutes they just lie there in the grass, making out with each other.
“Wanna go somewhere?” Brendon asks.
“You mean like… a motel or something?”
Brendon nods and blushes.
“Definitely,” Ryan smiles.
They go to the nearest motel and Brendon pays.
Ryan pushes him into the room and starts to take off Brendon’s clothes.
A couple of minutes later they are on the bed, having long hot sex.
When they are dressed again, they leave the room.
“So, wanna meet again tomorrow?” Ryan asks.
“I can’t…”
“Oh,” Ryan looks sad and gets tears in his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” Brendon whispers and he gets tears in his eyes too.
They give each other one last kiss and Brendon leaves.
Brendon wakes up in the small living room again and feels a bit dizzy.
But before he can do anything, he falls asleep again and he sees something else.
“Isn’t this the best festival ever?” Jon yells, trying to be louder than the music.
Brendon nods and smiles.
“I’m gonna get something to drink!” Brendon yells and he walks away.
When he goes to the drink stand, he sees a really skinny guy.
He’s wearing a glittery cat suit and glitter-make-up.
His hair is bright blue and he’s talking to some other guy, who is wearing almost the same thing, only a different color.
Brendon orders something to drink and pays.
He wants to walk back, but sees that the guy is walking his way.
“Hey,” Brendon smiles.
“Hey, I’m Ryan.”
“Brendon.”
Brendon feels something weird and can’t stop looking into Ryan’s eyes.
“I ehm, I just felt attracted to you, in a weird way, that’s why I ehm…”
“I felt it too,” Brendon says quickly and Ryan smiles.
“So, you’re not here for David Bowie, huh?” Ryan asks, already knowing the answer.
“No, I’m here for Whitesnake and Def Leppard.”
“Then you must think that I look ridiculous.”
“No, you look awesome.”
“Thanks,” Ryan blushes.
“I ehm, I probably should get back to my friend.”
“Oh, of course. Maybe want to like… meet at my tent after the show?”
“Sure, what’s your tent?”
Ryan explains where Brendon can find his tent.
“Okay, see you later,” Brendon smiles.
“Yeah…”
After the show, Brendon goes to the tent and opens the zipper.
Ryan is naked because he is just changing his clothes.
“Oh, sorry,” Brendon blushes.
“No, don’t worry, come in,” Ryan smiles.
Ryan wants to grab his pants, but Brendon stops him.
“But…”
But before Ryan can say another word, Brendon is kissing him.
Brendon feels that Ryan is very excited and he can’t exactly say that he isn’t turned on too.
Ryan starts to kiss Brendon’s neck and Brendon lets out a very loud moan.
And about five minutes later, they are having hot sex.
But when they’re done and both putting on their clothes, there’s a weird tension between them.
“I should probably go,” Brendon whispers.
“Want my phone number?”
“I can’t…”
“Oh, of course. It doesn’t matter,” Ryan lies.
“Ok, well, bye,” Brendon looks sad.
He gives Ryan a kiss and leaves the tent, feeling like crap.
Brendon wakes up in the small living room again and feels really weird.
All of the sudden he jumps up from the couch and he sees the spiritual coach.
“Brendon, what did you see?”
“Nothing,” Brendon lies, out of breath and he storms out of the room.
“Hey honey, how was it?” his mom asks.
“I want to get out of here,” Brendon says with tears in his eyes.
“Yeah, of course.”
When they get home, Brendon goes to bed and he doesn’t leave his room until he has to go to school, two days later.
Brendon is sitting in class, thinking about what he saw.
Not understanding it because he doesn’t know a Ryan.
“And his name is Ryan,” is all Brendon hears and he looks up.
He looks at the new guy and sees the guy from his previous life.
They look into each other’s eyes and both feel the weird feeling again.
“Ryan?”
Ryan just keeps staring at Brendon and doesn’t even notice that the teacher is talking to him.
“Ryan?”
The teacher taps him on the shoulder and Ryan looks up.
“You can sit next to him,” the teacher says, pointing at Brendon.
Brendon is very popular and all of his friends are laughing and making jokes about him having to sit next to someone who is obviously an outsider.
“Hey, I’m…”
“Brendon, right?”
“How did you know?” Brendon asks surprised.
“I’m not sure…”
“I think I might know…”
Ryan looks confused and Brendon shakes his head.
“I’ll tell you after class.”
After class they go to a quiet place.
“Okay, don’t freak out, or tell anyone, or…”
“Just tell me.”
“My mom forced me to see this spiritual coach and I saw two of my past lives.”
“And?”
“Well, we were in love… In both of them…”
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah, and I know you felt the recognition too. It was in the 60’s and in the 80’s.”
“That’s impossible. Because if we lived in the 60’s, we would still be that person in the 80’s.”
“I don’t quite understand it neither, but I will find out. I promise.”
Ryan doesn’t say anything because he isn’t sure if he believes it.
“Add me on msn and I’ll tell you as soon as I have found something.”
“Ok.”
Brendon gives his email address and goes home.
The rest of the afternoon he is busy trying to find anything about Brendon’s and Ryan’s in the 60’s and 80’s.
But then he finds a website with old news.
He finds out that a Brendon and a Ryan killed themselves in the 60’s, and that Ryan was a hippie and Brendon a business guy that had a best friend called Jon.
Then he finds almost the same news about a Brendon and a Ryan in the 80’s.
Brendon says: I found something
^Ryan^ says: What did you find?
Brendon gives the link and doesn’t hear a thing for over ten minutes.
Brendon says: So?
^Ryan^ says: You’re seventeen, right? I am eighteen.
Brendon says: Yeah, I am
^Ryan^ says: Crap, we really were those people. And here it says that they killed themselves because they couldn’t be with the person they loved.
Brendon says: I know…
^Ryan^ says: Meet me at the lockers tomorrow morning, 7.30
Before Brendon can say anything, Ryan has logged off.
The next morning Brendon runs to school and he walks into the empty hallway.
He waits until 7.40, but when Ryan still isn’t there, he wants to leave.
But when he walks by an office that doesn’t get used anymore, someone pulls him into the office and closes the door behind him.
“What the…”
But Ryan kisses him before he can say more.
Brendon kisses him back and feels a bit weird.
Ryan steps away from him, out of breath.
“Did you feel that?” he asks.
Brendon nods.
“I think it means that something is right this time…”
“Yeah…”
Ryan kisses him again and they just stay there for over twenty minutes, making out.
“Wow,” Brendon smiles when they stop kissing.
“Well, we’re meant to be together, right?” Ryan smiles and Brendon nods.
“And you know what they say: the third time is a charm,” Ryan smiles and he kisses Brendon again.
