Never Come Home, Never Coming Home
0 Reviews[Prologue] Lyrics from "The Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance
The night was cool as Gerard Way slipped out the front door with a backpack filled with all of his most treasured belongings. He had snuck in and gotten them after he had been kicked out. Tears slipped down his face as he said goodbye to his once-called home. He had left a note to his family on the kitchen table for them to find in the morning. Gerard dearly wished that he didn't have to do this, but it was for the best. After all, they had said right that afternoon that he was a freak who didn't belong. He thought back to the afternoon that had lead to this.
FLASHBACK:
Gerard walked in through the front door and saw his mother standing in the kitchen making dinner. He had decided after a week of thinking, that he would finally tell his parents about him being gay. He hoped they would be okay about it, but he had a bad feeling that this would not turn out very well.
“Hi honey, how was school?” His mother, Donna asked.
“Oh you know, the usual.” He answered boredly. “Mom, could you please call Dad in here?”
“Is something wrong?” Donna looked at him worriedly.
“No, no. Nothing's wrong. Could you please get him though?” Gerard said, while nervously playing with his hands.
“Donald! Come into the kitchen please!” His mother called.
His father walked in and sat on a chair at the table while Gerard and his mother both sat down too. “Mom, Dad, I have to tell you something.” Gerard looked down at his fingers again.
“What is it? Is it school?” Donna asked.
“No...” Gerard's voice trailed off. His parents sat in front of him waiting. “Um, you see...uh...”
“Whatever it is, I'm sure you can tell us, son.” His father assured him.
“Okay... um...” Gerard cleared his throat and mumbled “Ithinkilikeguys.”
“What? Could you repeat that?” His mom confusedly said.
“I-I t-think I like g-guys.” Gerard stuttered, unable to look up at his parents.
“WHAT? HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED??” Gerard's dad bellowed.
“How?” His mom faintly asked. She was pale and looked slightly sick.
“I-I don't know. I've felt like it for awhile, and I thought I'd tell you now.” Gerard quietly said.
“YOU FUCKING FREAK! WHY CAN'T YOU BE NORMAL LIKE YOUR BROTHER?”
Donna just shook her head. “Oh, where did we go wrong?” She moaned.
Gerard's dad ranted on. “GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW WHILE YOUR MOTHER AND I DISCUSS THIS.” Donald continued yelling.
“B-but...”
“Now, Gerard.” Gerard looked up into the eyes of his once loving mother. The love and care had disappeared from her eyes, and all that was left was hatred and loathing.
Gerard nodded and ran downstairs to his darkened room. This had all gone horribly, horribly, wrong. He should have just kept his big mouth shut.
END FLASHBACK
The ending of his former life had brought so much pain to him. He shook silently with tears as he fled his neighbourhood. The last words his parents had said to him were still fresh on his mind. He shuddered, as it came to his mind again.
FLASHBACK:
“GERARD, COME HERE THIS INSTANT.” His mother's voice sounded through the house. Gerard climbed up the stairs from his basement bedroom to the living room slowly. He dreaded to see what was next. His dad's face was still red with anger as he glanced quickly at him.
“We have decided-” Donna started.
“GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! I WON'T HAVE DISGUSTING FAGS LIKE YOU LIVING UNDER MY ROOF!” Donald interrupted.
“B-but, but...” Gerard tried to think of something to say, and failed.
“YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO OUR FAMILY. WE NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN.” Gerard's father shoved him to the door.
“Goodbye, Gerard.” Donna coldly said, and his dad slammed the door in his face.
