It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, birds were chirping. Slash was sitting on a very comfortable chair, on a very flash looking balcony. He could have been at a 5 star hotel, or a resort of some kind. He had no idea where he was, or what he was doing there.

"Hi, Slash." A familliar voice said. Slash looked up in surprise. And there he was.

Flowing red hair, piercing green eyes and that familliar smile that Slash recognised oh-so-well. Slash was stunned. Where the hell was he? And more importantly, what the hell was Axl doing sitting on the chair opposite him?

"Long time no see." Axl said cheekily.

"Wha...what the hell is this?" Slash was totally confused.

"This..." Axl picked up the glass of beer that was next to him. "This is a very beautiful day. Don't you think?"

Slash just continued staring at Axl. He looks exactly the same... He thought to himself. He knew Axl had changed over the years, he couldn't understand why he looked exactly as Slash remembered him.

"Don't be worried. This ain't a trick." He paused."Lets talk." Axl said, assuringly.

"Shouldn't you have braids"

Axl laughed. "Well that wouldn't be very fair to you know, would it? You might not have recognised me if I looked the way I actually do."

Slash smirked. Same sense of humour, too.

"What is this?" Slash asked.

"I need to ask you something." Axl responded.

"O...K."

"It's something important, Slash."

"What is it?"

Axl took a deep breath. "You know how you've been playing with those other singers a lot recently..."

Slash rolled his eyes.

"Well I just want to know if you feel any kind of connection with them. Like chemistry or whatever." Axl said.

Slash looked puzzled. He didn't know why Axl cared.

"Ummm...why does that matter?" Slash asked.

"Please just tell me the truth Slash. Did you feel anything with them...Any of them?"

"Well...yeah kinda." Slash answered, quietly.

"What do you mean, kinda?" Axl sounded puzzled.

"Like...."Slash started. "I've clicked with one of them. Royston."

"That shitty little spacehog guy?" Axl sounded disgusted. "You honestly had a connection with him?"

"No. I didn't have a connection with him. I clicked with him onstage.....That was pretty much it." Slash sounded surprised by the last words he said. They were the honest truth, but it made him realise that he hadn't actually connected with any singer. Anyone but....

"Me." Axl said, smiling.

"What? How did you..." Slash Started.

"I can see what you were thinking. It was written all over your face." Axl smirked.

Slash was a tiny bit scared that Axl could tell what he was thinking.

"Slash what do you see when you look in my eyes?" Axl asked, quickly.

Slash realised that he hadn't actually made eye contact with Axl yet. He didn't really want to either, Axl's eyes were the gateway into his emotions. But Slash forced himself to look into those green eyes he hadn't seen for so long.

"Nothing." Slash responded. It was true; he was looking straight into Axl's eyes, and he didn't see anything. No emotions, no deep thoughts.

Axl drooped his head down slightly. "That's what has happened to us. Our connection is gone." Axl said in monotone.

"I guess it has." Slash didn't seem sad. He actually seemed calm and uncaring. It's like he was sort of proud that he had no connection with Axl anymore.

"You know..I can get the connection back." Axl said. He was looking straight at Slash, who was squinting a bit, as the sun was shining brightly into his face.

"What...how?" Slash asked.

"I dunno. But we can be like we were. You just have to do one thing." Axl stood up and carefully walked towards Slash. "You just have to hold my hand." Axl held out his hand.

Slash was dumbfounded. "Axl.....I don't know if I want to have you in my life again."

Axl continued staring at him.

"I have to find a new singer...and I want to have a great connection with him. If you're back, I won't be able too."

"Slash, you will be able to. You will be able to play with anyone, knowing that you don't have to have chemistry with them."

Slash looked at the ground.

"I know how you feel every time you get onstage with another singer. I know that you feel empty." Axl said.

Slash looked straight at Axl. "How do you know that?"

"'Cos I can see it in you. I can see it every time you get onstage. I can see it right now....That's why I think it would be awesome to have our connection back."

Slash breathed heavily. He couldn't believe that Axl knew all of that. "Axe....I just...I just can't."

Axl kneeled right beside Slash. "Yes, you can. I know you want to, but your devotion to find someone else is blocking your judgement."

A small teardrop came out of the corner of Slash's eye. He did want to have the connection back, but he knew he couldn't. He couldn't let himself go back into the past. He wanted to move forward, and if Axl was there, he wouldn't be able to move on.

"I can't do this. I need to move on with life, this will only keep me back." Slash's voice was quiet.

"It won't keep you back." Axl was almost whispering. "I won't let you be held back by me. All this will do is give you strength to move on, to be confident. You won't have to keep looking for the person who you click with."

"No..."Slash whispered. "I-"

He couldn't finish the sentence. Axl had grabbed his hand. Slash closed his eyes. He could feel every emotion that was coming off of Axl.

He slowly opened his eyes, seeing Axl there, still clenching his hand. He looked into his eyes and felt a million different emotions, different feelings. He hadn't felt that for such a long time.

"Why did you do that..." Slash said, almost inaudibly.

Axl smiled. "Don't cry...I can feel that now, remember."

Axl carefully wiped away Slash's tears from his face. Slash was in a whirpool of emotions. He didn't want Axl to do that, but he didn't feel empty inside. Not anymore.

"You shouldn't of done that..." Slash was still teary eyed, he was speaking as if he had lost his voice.

"You can't fool me anymore Slash. I know you feel better now."

Slash gazed into Axl's eyes. He could feel the affection just pouring out of him. He slowly pulled his hand away from Axl's, then slid out of his seat and kneeled right next to him. He burried his head into Axl's shoulder, and flung his arms around him.

"Do you feel better now?" Axl asked, whispering into Slash's ear.

Slash didn't respond. Axl knew that meant yes.

He smiled and hugged Slash back.

Slash woke up suddenly. He was breathing heavily, and his body was covered in sweat.

It was a dream....

"A dream..." Slash repeated. It was just a dream...but Slash somehow felt....different. He could feel other emotions brewing inside of him, not necessarily his own. He felt fear, panic, anxiety...He wasn't in a horrible situation, so why was he feeling these things?

They didn't seem to be coming from him, rather from someone else. He could feel that someone was scared for their life. He had a connection to someone elses emotions...

A connection

Slash's eyes widened. He knew what, or rather who was feeling these things. He breathed in deeply, and whispered one word.

"Axl....."
