Chapter 2: Escape
Chancellor Palpatine Survives assassination attempt by the Jedi!
Late last night at the Chancellor’s office, Chancellor Palpatine survived an assassination plot by four Jedi Masters. Fortunately for our beloved senator, Anakin Skywalker arrived in time and disposed of the cowardly assassins. Jedi Master Mace Windu was among those who were killed and was implicated as the one who planned the cowardly attack.
In other news, rumors spread of the Jedi of joining the Separatists in protest over the senate’s refusal to hand them greater powers. Chancellor Palpatine has declared all Jedi as traitors and by executive order 66, he directed the Republic forces to capture the Jedi by any means and bring them to justice.
Hero with no fear Anakin Skywalker has condemned the attacks on our beloved Chancellor!
Anakin Skywalker, the most powerful Jedi alive has condemned the Jedi council for the cowardly attack. The Hero of the republic had saved his long time friend Chancellor Palpatine from the Jedi Assassins by valiantly holding off four Jedi masters, among them were Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto and Mace Windu, renowned blade masters of the Jedi order. “What the council did was a cowardly act, I’m ashamed of them… the Jedi have gone into decline… they grew corrupt, arrogant and obsolete.” Skywalker said in a quick interview to a reporter.
Anakin Skywalker has been recently appointed as the special representative of the Chancellor in military affairs. Rumor has it that he will lead a special mission to end the war.
Galactic Senate initiates a resolution to declare the republic into the Galactic Empire with Chancellor Palpatine as Emperor!
In a bold move, thousands of Senators agreed as one and initiated reforms to create the very first Galactic Empire. This heralds a time for peace and stability in our quadrant of the universe. Beloved leader Chancellor Palpatine was unanimously elected as the very first Emperor of the Galactic Empire.
Felucia, Outer Rim
“Report, Commander Bly, how goes order 66?” The holographic image of the commander in chief asked from its display on Bly’s potable holographic projector.
“A success Emperor Palpatine, the traitorous Jedi Knights Aayla Secura and Barriss Offee were vaporized from close range AT TE close range fire.” Bly reported back
“Good…Report your strike force back to the capital Commander Bly, I have need of the 327 th Star Corps to aid the 501 st to hunt down the remaining Jedi. Jedi Masters Yoda and Shaak Ti have managed to survive the arrests. Hunt them down commander.” Emperor Palpatine ordered and his image disappeared.
“We’re moving out! Back to Coruscant! Call the transports, I want this camp empty within the hour!” Commander Bly ordered his captains. Within the hour, the camp was emptied and stripped off its equipment and weapons as the clones moved with machine like precision in dismantling their temporary structures.
“Sir, should we blow this Jedi starship up?” One of the NonComs asked Commander Bly.
“No… leave it here…. No one can fly that thing anyway.” Commander Bly said as he gazed at the Delta – 7 Star fighter for the exclusive use of the Jedi. The light blue customized Star fighter was used by Aayla Secura and it had seen many space and atmosphere battles for years. Countless Trifighters and Vulture droids fell prey to its cannons and the pilot’s own skill. This was a monument for Aayla Secura and her selfless actions during the war.
The three Gunships swooped down and Bly and the rest of the remaining troops jumped into the open hatch. “Goodbye General.” Commander Bly said as the gunship he was riding on took off and headed for the Cruisers.
“You’re awake at last. Do the wizards in your world sleep that deep?” Aayla asked as she saw Harry Potter emerge from the make shift hut they made the previous day.
“I was tired last night… Before I arrived here my partner and I were fighting a Demon.” Harry said as he sat across the beautiful Twilek.
“A demon? Aren’t they supposed to myths? Creatures of Fire that are nearly unstoppable. I’ve read about it in the Jedi Archives when I was a padawan.” Aayla said as she gazed at her companion.
“Oh it’s very real, twenty feet tall, and everything we threw at it just bounced of its thick skin. My partner and I lured it deeper into the building to give the rest of our force some time to contain it. ” Harry said as he looked around his strange surroundings.
“So what happened then? Where is your partner?” Aayla asked, she was curious about the events that lead her companion and savior here.
“Well we were tiring out fast and Nymphadora… I mean Tonks, she got injured and I pushed her away from the cavern and made the ceiling collapse to bury the Demon with me.” Harry said as his expression darkened when he remembered the tough battle.
“You were prepared to sacrifice yourself? To save your allies?” Aayla asked.
“Well yeah, it’s part of the job description as an Auror… and Tonks, she’s my godson’s mother. I didn’t want Teddy to grow up without a mother. I will miss him though” Harry replied.
“Self Sacrifice… commitment… you know Harry you’re like a Jedi. I’m glad force users like you have existed in other parts of the galaxy” Aayla said, and gave a comforting blue arm and patted Harry’s shoulder. “I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad and honored to have met you.”
“Jedi… What is a Jedi? Is it like an Auror? I mean you fight the bad guys too?” Harry asked. “And the force… you keep saying that but to me it’s just magic.”
“The Jedi are the keepers of peace in the galaxy. We have existed for thousands of years for this reason, arbitrating conflicts and mediating among warring factions and if needed, to fight.” Aayla said. “And the force… it is what holds the universe together… it’s like the glue that binds us and the Jedi commune with the force and use its power for the betterment of all.”
“Like Magic.” Harry observed.
“No… I said it’s everywhere! The air you breathe… the ground you’re sitting on… the leaf you are playing with… everything is the force.” Aayla insisted.
“Yeah like you said… Magic” Harry smiled.
Aayla took a deep breath and used the force to calm her. “Fine… The Force... Magic in your world… that’s the power of the Jedi. Now, why don’t we look for breakfast? I also need to meditate and ask the Force for guidance… this massacre of my fellow Jedi is disturbing.”
“Alright then… another chicken?” Harry asked and the look Aayla gave him made him change his mind. “Find no birds then, but the one we ate last night was good yeah?”
“It was…” Aayla admitted. “But I know this planet and its rivers are full of fish. It’s only a short dash from here… can you keep up with me?” Aayla asked.
“I’m not sure… you travelled really fast last night, it’s like you were using a banishing charm to propel yourself forward. I’ll just fly overhead and follow you.” Harry replied and transformed into his animagus form.
Aayla watched with curiosity at her friend’s form, this was the first time she saw him in broad daylight and he was beautiful… cute even. Aayla held out her arm and the Black falcon immediately got the hint and flew to her outstretched arm.
“It’s an amazing sight to see how powerful the force is… to transform yourself into the shape of another creature is unheard off.” Aayla said as she stroked the Falcon’s chest gently with her fingers. “Keep close Harry, and watch out for the separatists… give a warning if you see something alright?”
The black peregrine Falcon gave her a look and through the Force Aayla understood what the Falcon was feeling. Aayla smiled. “I’ll take care of myself too. Let’s go”
The falcon lifted through the air and circled overhead and she jumped into the top of tallest mushroom like flower. Aayla jumped from one top to another covering a good distance unlike their struggle through the thick undergrowth of forest floor yesterday.
20 minutes later
“Almost there… steady…” Aayla said as the bulge in the water rapidly grew closer to where she was sitting on the edge of the bank.
A large sea creature exploded out of the water’s surface, its jaws wide open ready to snatch the easy meal in the bank. I was massive… about twenty feet in length with thick scales and rows of deadly ten centimeter teeth.
“Now!” Aayla shouted as she leapt off from where she stood and as she flipped into the air and activated her lightsaber. Harry immediately sent a banishing charm towards the large fish sending it further into the land, preventing its escape. Aayla slashed through as she descended, chopping the Fish’s head off its body as it landed on the river bank.
The massive body still twitched on the ground while the massive fish head’s mouth still opened and closed, the gills trying to still draw oxygen.
“When you said big… you really mean big. That’s a hell of a lot bigger than what I imagined.” Harry said as he joined his companion.
Aayla smirked as she started cutting out the edible portions of the body. “During a skirmish not far away from here, we had the separatist forces pinned near the river… let’s just say the inhabitants finished the job for us.”
“Good thinking.” Harry noticed that Aayla was done gutting the fish with her light saber. “Why are you just using that part of the fish? You haven’t even touched the rest of the body yet, this thing can last us for a week.”
“If we can carry it back to camp it will expend a lot of energy from us… and Felucia’s humid atmosphere would make the carcass rot within hours.” Aayla replied.
“Oh… well here let me take care of this.” Harry said as he sent a charm that shrank the entire carcass to the size of a small sardine. He added a preservation charm as an afterthought.
“Magic?” Aayla asked weakly… she never knew that was possible with the force alone, maybe with a shrinking ray or a particle deconstructor, but even then that would take months… even years.
“Yeah… and I added a preservation charm to prevent the fish from rotting and decaying, that way it can last us for days.”
“Smart thinking.” Aayla said. “Let’s head back… we are too exposed here in the river. Even though I sense that the clones are gone, the separatists are still here in the planet.”
“Ok… who is going to carry the fish though?” Harry held up the shrunken body by the tail. “And do you want me to apparate us there?”
“You are of course.” Aayla replied. “And no… I want you to follow me this time… I can see you are in shape, but you still need to build your endurance and flexibility. Let’s go” Aayla shot up through the air and landed thirty feet above the jungle floor on top of a large flower. Aayla looked down with her finger beckoned Harry to join her.
“Crap.” Harry said. He tensed his arms and jumped, and he sent a powerful banishing charm to the ground with his hands. He immediately shot up and flew way past the tree line, fifty feet off the ground.
“Oh hell.” Harry muttered as he started to fall back as he overshot his target. He saw an arm in the corner of his eye and grabbed it and found himself hanging from the edge of the Mushroom like tree looking at Aayla’s face.
The Jedi Knight pulled him up and Harry lay sprawled on top of the flower.
“I think I over did it.” Harry said as he breathed hard.
“You did. Good first try though.” Aayla replied. “Let’s go, it will be easier now that we are on top… watch your landings and always remain on balance. I’ll go first and watch my jump, the height and where I land, and then you follow.”
“I got it.” Harry replied. Aayla made a fantastic jump and landed gracefully on top of a nearby flower, 15 feet away. She turned to Harry and nodded encouragingly.
Harry jumped and used less magic this time and he landed awkwardly beside Aayla.
“Good. Much better Harry. You have good balance, where did you learn to find your center?” Aayla asked and she jumped again to another flower.
“Quidditch.” Harry replied as he landed, he immediately bent his knees to lower his center of gravity. “Hey I think I’m getting the hang of this thing.”
“What is Kidditch?” Aayla asked curiously.
Day 5, Felucia
A bolt of lightning had hit a nearby tree sending it crashing to the forest floor. Harry stirred in his cot beside Aayla and he struggled to fall to sleep again.
The heavy rains had kept battering down on their modest shelter for two days, and Harry and Aayla added more wood and foliage to their roof to prevent the water from leaking in whenever there were breaks in the rain. Harry had taken to sleeping beside Aayla for warmth as the cold winds sucked the heat from their bodies. It was amusing for Aayla to see Harry become suddenly shy and hesitant when he was in close proximity with her.
Lightning struck another tree again and Harry groaned in his sleep.
“I’m not going to get any sleep if this keeps up.” Harry said. He looked at his companion and noticed her lying there relaxed, looking at him.
“You must learn to be at peace with the Force Harry. Drown out the noise with calm... and focus. Trust me it will help.” Aayla suggested.
“If you say so Aayla. I don’t hear any mysterious Force speaking in my mind though” Harry closed his eyes and struggled to maintain the calm and peace within. It was one thing to keep your mind blank, like in his Occlumency and Legillimency training but having emotions within you was completely baffling. What was worse, he expected a foreign presence to speak in his consciousness, something that proved similar to the effects of the Imperio curse.
Harry smelled something nice, breaking his concentration, it was a good scent and he sniffed harder to smell more of the scent. He opened his eyes and realized that his nose was mere inches from Aayla’s arm as the Twilek turned her back on him to give him some privacy.
“Aayla, why is it that you smell so good?” Harry asked then he realized what he said and turned his back on the Twilek. He heard a beautiful laugh and he turned back and found himself staring at her beautiful blue face that was filled with amusement.
“I smell good? I have not even taken a bath in days.” Aayla said as she smiled. “But thank you for the compliment.”
“Err yeah sure.” Harry looked for a new topic of conversation, as he felt things get slightly awkward.
“Do you miss your home? Your family?” Harry asked. He immediately regretted his questions as he saw Aayla’s face fell. “You don’t have to answer it Aayla, let’s talk about something else.”
In the days he spent in close proximity to Aayla, he had learned to read her moods through her body language and facial expressions. She would braid her lekku whenever she wanted to pass the time if she was deep in thought, and if restless she would practice the forms with her lightsaber.
Her eyes though showed everything even if her Jedi composure kept her face calm and serene. Her gold eyes would betray the slightest bit of emotion, one that Harry was quick to pick up. And he saw the hurt in her golden eyes when he asked about her past.
“It is fine Harry, A Jedi does not cling to the past… but… I am worried for my old Jedi Master, the one who trained me” Aayla said as she played with the strange fabric Harry wore. Her companion remained silent as he gave her his ear to listen to what was bugging her.
“I told you about him the other day… Master Quillan Vos… he found me when I was a small child in Ryloth. I was destined to be a slave and become a dancer under one of the hutts before Master Vos found me.” Aayla said.
“But this attack… this betrayal is deeper than any of us have seen or realized. Master Vos was in Kashhyk with Master Yoda when the order 66 from Chancellor Palpatine began.” Aayla added a frown developing on her beautiful smooth face.
“You’re worried about Master Vos.” Harry voiced out what Aayla was thinking at that moment.
“A Jedi... she does not hold attachments… but yes I am worried about Master Vos. He was like a father to me.” Aayla admitted. “And this betrayal… it makes me angry… and hurt… to think that our very own troops have betrayed thousands of my fellow Jedi. “
Aayla said and looked at her companion. “I’m afraid that this anger will stir me closer to the dark path… I have strayed there once… I’m afraid to do it again.”
“That’s a load of rubbish.” Harry said as he processed Aayla’s words.
“Excuse me?” Aayla asked. Did he just say what she thought she heard?
“I said it’s a load of rubbish… what you just said. Just feeling anger will draw you to the dark side? That’s not true…” Harry replied.
“And you presume to be wiser than the thousands of Jedi who preached this code for a thousand years?” Aayla asked in amusement. She should be offended but for Harry to brush aside the sacred doctrines of the Jedi order was amusing.
“Uh yes? I did not mean to disrespect your order… but feeling these emotions like anger… jealousy… and hurt... that’s normal for me. It shows that we are human… err Twilek.” Harry said as he looked intently at his companion’s eyes. “It is part of us, why do we repress that which is natural to feel? It’s unhealthy for the mind.”
“But that leads to the dark side…” Aayla began but she was interrupted by Harry.
“Dark side?” Harry asked skeptically. “In my world emotions had nothing to do with it. Nothing…. It is in our choices and our decisions that lead us to do acts of kindness or evil.” Harry said.
Aayla processed the words she just heard… it was mind boggling to hear this new concept… it was rebellious, an open defiance to the old doctrines of the ancient Jedi Order. But deep within she knew Harry’s words were true… she among a few Jedi felt that the ancients Doctrines needed to be at the very least revised. Her mutual attraction with Kit Fisto a few years back and the Jedi’s strict rules against relationships made their attraction lead to nowhere.
Aayla noticed that the rain had stopped and moon light was bathing their camp. The leaves and branches were sparkling as drops of rain reflected the light. She turned to Harry and gave a smile in appreciation. “Thank you for listening Harry.”
“It was no problem Aayla. That’s what friends are for.” Harry replied as he smiled back.
The cold wind blew again and Aayla shivered as the clothes she was wearing, so comfortable in the humid weather of the Forest during the day, virtually offered no protection at the chilly nights. Harry saw this and he wondered where he got the courage and beckoned Aayla to move closer to him.
Aayla smiled and moved near him and placed her head on top of his arms like a pillow. She sighed as she felt the warm heat of Harry’s body shield her from the cold winds. In a few minutes the wizard and the Jedi were deep in sleep.
“What’s that?” Harry looked up as he heard a strange sound in the sky.
“Stay down Harry!” Aayla said as she jumped up a nearby rock to see the vapor trail. “Move back to camp, I’ll investigate this.”
“But I can help….” Harry protested.
“Harry, I am a Jedi and I am familiar in this universe’s technology. You might see something and not realize it is a threat until it’s too late. Please?” Aayla asked.
“Fine… just I don’t know… go back here if you think you need help. I’ll be ready.” Harry said.
“Your concern is appreciated Harry.” Aayla smiled. “Take care”
The blue skinned Twilek leapt from her position and headed towards the direction of the camp, it seemed that the ship that descended to this world was headed there… it would be a way to get off this planet without alerting the Republic forces.
A strange ship burst out of the atmosphere and headed for the old camp where Aayla’s forces where once stationed before they turned on her. The Rutian Twilek hid among the bushes as the strange craft prepared to land. It looked like a merchant ship, designed to carry spices to Coruscant from Corellia. What was it doing here?
The merchant ship of the Corellian Star System powered down and its ramp lowered to the ground. Amidst the steam emitted by the ship’s cooling systems a figure emerged and spoke out. “I am glad that you have survived the Purge, Aayla.”
Aayla relaxed her stance and stood up. “It’s good to see you Master Ti.”
“And you Aayla… I have barely escaped with my life when Darth Vader stormed the Jedi temple with the 501 st regiment… Your regiment. You trained them well… perhaps too well.” Master Shaak Ti, distinguished member of the Jedi Council said.
“Darth Vader? There’s a new Sith lord?” Aayla asked.
“He is Darth Sidious… or should I say Chancellor Palpatine’s Apprentice. Skywalker.” Shaak Ti said as her face frowned. She knew she felt something different when Skywalker walked out of the temple to ‘assist’ Mace Windu in Palpatine’s arrest. His face was full of fear, like he was being consumed by it from within. The first step to the Dark Side.
“Skywalker?! I… That is impossible! He is the chosen one! The one who will bring balance to the force!” Aayla said. She respected the Republic’s most feared warrior. As Anakin’s strike force had won countless of battles and stopped invasion after invasion by the separatist forces, he gained the admiration from his peers and the other commanders. The Holonet broadcasts even called him the “Hero with no Fear.”
“He certainly did bring balance if that is the prophecy… in a matter of hours the Whole Jedi order was exterminated.” Shaak Ti clenched her fists. “As far as I know… only Master Yoda and Master Obi Wan survived as it was reported that both of them assaulted the Temple and reversed the signal that told the Jedi to come... It was obviously a trap set up by the Sith. I heard it in the merchant broadcasts when I was on my way here.”
“How did you come by here Master Ti?” Aayla asked.
“I sensed… no… not a disturbance in the force… but something different.” Shaak looked at the blue Twilek. “And you… you felt this too didn’t you Aayla?”
“I met him… he saved me from my clones when they surrounded me.” Aayla admitted.
“Him? It is a person? Show him to me Aayla? I would very much like to meet him.” Shaak Ti asked eagerly.
Aayla nodded. "I left him in camp… he wanted to follow but I told him to stay behind. Follow me” Aayla said as she jumped to the top of the mushroom like tree. She did not bother to look back if Shaak Ti was following her. She already felt the Jedi Master as her powerful presence trailed her closely.
“Aayla? Who is this?” Harry asked as he crawled out of the shelter.
“This is Jedi Master Shaak Ti…” Aayla introduced her fellow Jedi and turned to Master Ti.”…and Master Ti, this is my friend Harry Potter.”
“It’s nice to meet you Jedi Master.” Harry replied as he observed the colorful woman behind Aayla. She was obviously female and she had strange shapes jutting out of her head, while her face was painted red except for the white spots around her eyes like a panda.
“It’s nice to meet you too Master Potter.” Shaak Ti said as she bowed slightly towards Harry.
Harry awkwardly bowed back. “Pardon for the rudeness, but what are you?”
Shaak Ti smiled as Aayla moved towards the campfire and ignited it with her lightsaber. “I’m a Togrutan, from the planet Shili near Kashhyk.” When she saw Harry’s confused face she laughed. “You’re not familiar with the universe are you?”
“I’m not from this universe.” Harry grinned.
Shaak Ti moved closer to him and said “Pardon for my rudeness but…” She peered closer to get a better look at Harry’s eyes causing Aayla to raise an eyebrow. “You have such strange and beautiful eyes… like my lightsaber’s... I have never seen such color in any species before.”
“Uhh thanks.” Harry said uncomfortably. He looked at Aayla but she was busy tending to the fire.
Shaak Ti stepped back and smiled at the strange human while her hands gripped the man’s shoulders to feel his strength and power. “And you are strong in the Force… enough that I sensed you, but in a different manner… I feel we are brethren… or cousins… This is a feeling that I have when I meet a fellow Jedi or one with force potential.”
“He is a wizard… Harry uses Magic.” Aayla stepped in as she stood beside Harry.
“Magic?” Shaak Ti asked as she smiled in amusement. ”In some cultures they see advanced technologies and our Jedi powers as magical but… By the force!” Shaak Ti exclaimed.
Harry tired of proving magic exists, transfigured a nearby dead branch into a gleaming silver sword as a practical demonstration.
“How… I felt the force but…” Shaak Ti was speechless as she took the heavy sword from the ground and examined it. It was real, not merely a hologram.
“Magic” Harry explained as he grinned at the Jedi Master.
After a long discussion of Harry’s past and the current news that happened during the week that Aayla and Harry hid themselves in seclusion the three decided to seek out Yoda for guidance.
Shaak Ti deemed that the Fellucia was safe from both Galactic forces and Separatist forces as the latter had declared unconditional surrender as they deactivated all their droid forces across the systems. The three now headed back to the former Republic camp when Aayla spotted her Delta – 7 Star fighter.
To Aayla and Shaak Ti’s amusement Harry was excited as he looked at the wicked looking Star fighter, and he declared it as “Cool” as he circled it, inspecting its exterior and the weapons mounted on its stabilizers.
“I know it’s ‘awesome’ Harry but we have to change its appearance and modify its thruster signature, we do not want ourselves to be immediately assaulted when the Galactic cruisers detect us.” Aayla said.
“How? We don’t have the tools” Harry asked.
“We do” Shaak Ti answered him. “There are a few tools in the merchant ship I used to escape Coruscant, and we can even combine parts from both ships to make it undistinguishable.”
“That will take long…” Harry said as he looked at the complicated machine.
“Patience is a virtue of the Jedi… and with the use of the force nothing is impossible.” Shaak Ti replied. “I will move my ship nearer and we can begin dismantling both.”
“This climate is so humid.” Shaak Ti said as she removed her brown Jedi Robes. The sun blazed over them and any signs of the cool morning air was now gone.
Harry’s eyes widened as he saw what the Jedi Master was wearing under her clothes… virtually nothing, but only scraps of cloths wrapped around her breasts and crotch. It seemed the white pattern that surrounded the Jedi Master's eyes was also present in her breasts, crotch and back.
“Are all Jedi so revealing in their clothes?” Harry asked as he regained his composure. He was wearing only his trousers while Aayla even removed hers further increasing his discomfort.
Shaak Ti and Aayla looked at each other and laughed.
“What?” Harry asked as he struggled to fight the blush in his cheeks. “I mean I thought Aayla’s clothes were revealing enough but I never thought a Jedi Master would even be that bold. I thought it was just Aayla’s style.” Harry said as he looked at Aayla’s smooth blue legs and he turned away.
“It is Aayla’s style…” Shaak Ti said. “Her refusal to wear robes made a stir among the padawans whenever she visited. It’s always a topic in the Jedi Council.”
“It’s my heritage as a Twilek to wear these clothes. Besides, it’s comfortable.” Aayla said.
“And the Jedi are forbidden to form relationships, Harry, it’s against the code.” Shaak Ti said. “So as Jedi we ignore such sexual attractions… though I’m not sure the old code still applies. The Sith annihilated us… we need to change… to evolve.”
Harry and Aayla looked at each other and continued working on the chassis.
Three days of hard work turned both ships into a new disc shaped ship, with a small cockpit on its side for the three to comfortably sit on. With Harry’s ability to transfigure any metal or alloy to the desired shape, the two female Jedi made good progress.
Shaak Ti admitted that she thought it would take at least five days or a week to finish the task. The new ship that Aayla deemed as the ‘Falcon’ as she remembered Harry;s other form, would later be upgraded and customized to become the fastest ship in the galaxy and serve a crucial role in the Empire's defeat.
The Hyperdrive engine was the hardest to modify but through persistence and Harry’s magic they formed a new engine from the parts of Delta – 7 and the Corellia merchant ship.
“You called for me Master Ti?” Aayla asked. They had finished the Falcon, and by all preliminary tests it seemed to be working, they just needed to work out the few bugs in the systems.
After dinner everyone relaxed but not before Shaak Ti gave a meaningful glance that meant she wished to speak to the Jedi Knight in private. When Harry fell asleep under the Falcon Aayla headed to Shaak Ti who was meditating on top of a boulder.
“Yes… I wish to ask you something.” Shaak Ti opened her eyes and looked at Aayla. “Do you feel that the path you have chosen is the right path?”
“Master… I do not understand…” Aayla said.
“You do need to hide this from me… I saw the way you and Master Fisto looked at each other… I did not speak that matter out in the Jedi Council.” Shaak Ti said. “And now I can see you and Harry look at each other the same way. Aayla, I am not blind and I do not condemn it at the least.”
“It is up to the Force where it leads us Master Ti. My will and my heart by the will of the force will show me where my path lies.” Aayla replied.
“As it should be” Shaak Ti replied. “I sometimes feel that the only thing we lack in the Council was love.”
Shaak Ti looked at the stars and the moons orbiting Fellucia. “We must hurry and speak to master Yoda, we are the few remaining Jedi left, and our lives cannot be thrown recklessly as before. And Harry Potter maybe the key to restoring the Jedi Order… No not restoring… but rebuilding it.”
Tantive IV, the ship of the Alderaan Royalty headed through normal space and it passed by many ships near Polis Massa, the medical station for Alderaan.
A small green figure sat cross-legged on top of the chair in one of the meeting rooms. His eyes suddenly snapped open as he sensed something in the Force. Yoda willed the communications station by the door to activate and the face of Bail Organa, senator and ruler of Alderaan appeared on the screen.
“Master Yoda? Is something wrong?” Bail Organa asked.
“Hail that small ship you must. Important matters I have to discuss with its occupants.” Yoda, the Supreme Jedi Master of the Jedi Council said.
“Which ship? There are dozens in the general vicinity and it will be a security risk to hail them all.” Bail Organa said.
“In the portside of the Tantive IV, the ship is.” Yoda replied. Bail Organa nodded and the ancient master used this opportunity to commune with the Force. He smiled, as he felt the familiar presence of Jedi Master Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura.
He felt another presence, something that in all his 800 years he never experienced before, and it was puzzling. It was a refreshing change to the oppressive clouds of the Dark Side of the Force though. Yes there is hope, brighter than he could have asked for.
“Master Yoda! You wouldn’t believe it!” Bail Organa said from the screen. “Master Shaak Ti and Jedi Knight Aayla Secura are alive!”
“Good news this is.” Yoda replied. “Have them dock, speak with them, I need to.”
“Of course Master Yoda, their ship is docking as we speak. I’ll send them to the conference room at once.” Bail Organa said.
“Have the Jedi’s gratitude, you have. And mine as well.” Yoda said as he bowed in thanks.
The Falcon docked with the larger Tantive IV and the Alderaan crew, all loyal supporters of their Senator stood aside as they welcomed the three figures who came on board.
“Master Ti, Master Secura, I am happy to see that you have survived.” Bail Organa said as he shook hands with the two Jedi.
“I am also grateful to still see allies in the Senate. The Jedi are in your debt.” Shaak Ti replied.
“There is no debt, how could we refuse aid to those who are the keepers of peace and justice?” Bail Organa said. “Now, Master Yoda told me to show you where he is staying.” Bail Organa said as he led the way through the corridor. “He is most anxious to meet you.”
“Is Master Yoda the only one who survived in Kashhyk?” Aayla asked.
“As far as I can tell. He escaped his pursuers when the Wookies helped him escape through the use of a life pod.” Senator Organa replied. He looked curiously at the third member of the newly arrived group, it was a young man, in his late teens or early twenties perhaps, and he had strange green eyes. The young man walked closely beside Aayla, this must be her padawan.
“Pardon, but you did not introduce me to your Padawan Master Secura. I’m glad your Padawan survived, I feared only the masters and exceptional Jedi knights had enough skill to survive the purge.” Bail Organa said and he looked at the young man. “You must be an exceptional Padawan to have survived where your peers did not.”
Aayla laughed and Shaak Ti smiled. “He is no Padawan of mine Senator. He is my friend.”
“Ahh another Jedi then.” Bail Organa said. “Good to have you with us Master Jedi.”
“He is no Jedi.” Aayla said as she glanced at Harry. The Wizard smiled in turn and continued to follow Aayla as he looked around the largest ship he ever came onboard. He was still amazed at the space flight, but he was quite disappointed when he didn’t feel the zero gravity he once saw in the Television.
“Then what is he?” The senator asked.
“Something else.” Aayla replied. “All will be explained senator, but for now we need Master Yoda’s wisdom and guidance.
“Yes of course.” The senator replied. “Here we are. I will leave you to your Jedi business then, call me if you need something.”
“You have our gratitude Senator.” Shaak Ti and Aayla bowed in gratitude and entered a room followed closely by Harry.
Harry found himself in a modest size room that had a beautiful view of the Asteroid cluster and a strange man made structure on one of the larger asteroids. The stars were beautiful and he couldn’t even recognize a single constellation. He noticed a small green… thing sitting on top of a chair, it was small, about three and a half feet tall with large eyes and large ears… like a House elf.
“Overjoyed I am to find Master Ti and Aayla Secura well.” Yoda greeted his Jedi companions as his eyes twinkled with affection.
“We are glad that you are here too Master Yoda.” Shaak Ti and Aayla bowed in respect to the ancient Jedi Master. “We seek your council.”
“Yes… Yes… I know and great thought I have given it. Sit and your friend, you must introduce me to.” Yoda said as he looked at Harry with bright big eyes.
Harry blinked back… the green little thing that was called Yoda even talked like Dobby, but Dobby even knew how to speak words in the correct order.
“This is my new friend and ally… Harry Potter… he is a force user though he claims that the powers he uses is magic. He suddenly appeared in Fellucia just before… Order sixty six commenced and he saved my life.” Aayla said as she glanced at Harry who was looking with great interest at Yoda.
“Greetings Harry Potter, and thank you I do, for saving the life of one of the Jedi.” Master Yoda said as he looked at Harry in turn with great interest.
“Uhm Greetings Master Yoda. It’s good to meet you too.” Harry said as he observed the batty ears twitch every so often.
“Curious you are, and a puzzle in your mind you have.” Yoda observed.
“Uhh nothing… you just remind me of a friend I have back in my world.” Harry said as he sat down beside Aayla. She was the only friend he had in this entire Universe and he felt the need for something familiar in such a strange environment.
“Perhaps discover you have about the true nature of my race?” Yoda said as he used his force senses to look closer at the boy. “Strong in the force young Harry you are… very strong. And the force is different around you… bathed in it you are, bright and clear.”
“But… see through your mind, I cannot… feel you emotions I do.” Yoda frowned when encountered a force based barrier. He felt uncertainty, curiosity and fondness for a certain Twilek. He certainly is interesting, and he could feel the young man’s strong convictions. He was a being for the light as much as Yoda was and this was comforting.
“I block my mind from mental probes through Occlumency, the art of forming mental shields to prevent external forces to influence your mind.” Harry said.
“Intriguing… intriguing … taught to you it has been? Learn this I can?” Yoda asked with genuine Interest.
“If you want I can teach you… all of you” Harry said as he looked back at Aayla who looked like she wanted to learn too. The Twilek nodded in gratitude and relaxed in her seat as she listened to the conversation.
“Yes yes very much so. Appreciate I do. Now for other matters…” Yoda looked at the two Jedi in front of him. “A grave mistake I made… realize this in my battle with Darth Sidious… an insight if you will.”
“A mistake Master Yoda?” Shaak Ti asked. Master Yoda rarely made mistakes… she didn’t even know if the ancient master was capable of making one.
“A mistake we have made in training our Jedi Knights. Evolved and change the Sith has, exploited our weakness they have. So do we need to change… evolve we must to survive.” Yoda said as he closed his eyes to commune with the force. It was brighter now as he had pierced the shroud of darkness the Dark Side had used to block him.
“What do we need to do Master Yoda?” Aayla Secura asked, curious and confused about what the Jedi master said.
“As of now… learn we must of our enemy’s weakness, and maintain vigilance against them. We must train ourselves again, back to padawans we all are.” Yoda said.
“Padawans?” Shaak Ti asked.
“Yes… even I who has been a Jedi Master for eight hundred years. A humbling experience it will be… and amusing no doubt.” Yoda said as he smiled at the shocked faces of Shaak Ti and Aayla.
“Who will be our teacher then?” Shaak Ti asked.
“All of us… learn from each other we will… and from our new ally.” Yoda turned to Harry. “Teach us your knowledge you will?”
Harry looked at the faces of the three Jedi and he nodded. “Of course… that is if you can teach me too?”
“Train you by all of us we will. Of that there is no doubt. Hard the training you will expect from us. But sense I do your determination to carry this through. Applaud you I do.” Yoda said. “Tired you all are… and take a break we will. Aayla a few minutes with you I require.”
Harry looked back at his friend but Aayla nodded for him to go ahead and Shaak Ti guided him towards the corridor to get some nourishment. Harry looked at a corner when he saw something but did not say anything and hurried after Shaak Ti, after all, ghosts were normal in his world.
“Attached to him you are.” Yoda observed.
“You saw it too master? Master Ti also spoke to me about this.” Aayla said as she prepared herself for a scolding.
“Yes I do… in his feelings for you I sense, fondness perhaps more. But attraction in both your eyes I clearly see.” Yoda replied.
“Master… I am…” Aayla began but she stopped talking when the ancient Jedi master held up his walking stick to stop her from speaking.
“Explain this you do not have to. Understand I do.” Yoda said as he looked at the young Jedi knight.
“Forbidden are Commitments and relationships in the old Jedi Order. A weakness the old Order have is to repress the Love we feel for our fellows. Darth Sidious, this weakness he used to lure young Skywalker to the Dark Side.”
“Senator Amidala” Aayla said. The notoriously ‘hidden’ affair was a well favorite topic among the senators and some of the Jedi… they were just afraid to confront Palpatine and Obi Wan to bring it up to the Senate and the Jedi council respectively. Of course Skywalker thought he was doing well in hiding his affair but everyone was just scared of him and his friends to bring the matter up to his face.
“Yes… if allowed their love to flourish… perhaps Skywalker would not have chosen the dark side. But the past the Jedi does not cling to… and Love is a great asset to the living Force… realize this I do” Yoda said as he looked at Aayla. “Condemn you I do not. Encourage you, even I do. Now I must meditate and continue my lessons.” Yoda closed his eyes and began to commune with the force.
Aayla took it as permission to leave and used her senses to follow Harry and Shaak Ti, while her mind whirled with questions and possibilities. How did Master Yoda and Master Shaak Ti see through her? She understood and felt Harry’s developing feelings for her… she was an empath but she was used to receiving such emotions from her clones.
Harry was even a gentleman compared with the clones as not once did she feel Harry’s lust for her… only admiration and genuine attraction. The week day spent in extremely close proximity with one another made them closer… and she considered Harry to be her closest friend as of this moment. She trusted him with her very life and she was sure Harry felt the same way. She spotted a mess of long black human hair and walked faster to catch up with him.
“Strange person he is.” Yoda said aloud.
“He is… and he even saw me.” Qui Gon Jin replied.
“He did? Advanced than I am Harry is to be able to see you in your astral form.” Yoda said. “What do you think of him?”
“He is the chosen one of his own world… and unlike ours he succeeded in defeating the dark lord and his hundreds of his supporters through self sacrifice and courage.” Qui Gon Jin said.
“Very lucky, his world is to have someone like him.” Yoda commented. “Through the Force that he got here?”
“Yes… he was transported here by an act of self sacrifice to save his friends. The Living Force has decided that we need more help. Fear not Yoda, he will resist the temptation… he has proven himself.” Qui gon said.
“Truth in your words I hear old friend. Feel the light in him... and warm my heart to see it.” Yoda said. He felt the presence of Qui Gon Jin vanish and he resumed his meditation to hide his incredible powers from Darth Sidious’ senses. He would need to find a place soon to hide and train with his fellow Jedi.
“That’s rikuan ribs.”
“Green Shofols for Alderaan… they’re really good.”
“Alright I’ll get one… and… Aayla, is that a tail?” Harry gasped as he saw the thing twitch.
“That’s a delicacy… a tentacle from a Gwindian Lizard.” Aayla said as she stabbed it with her fork and placed it in her tray.
Harry peered closer and looked at the tail. Aayla saw him look at the tail with uncertainty and to tease him she bit a chunk of the tail and chewed on it, all the time enjoying the horrified look on Harry’s face.
“Wash your mouth before you sleep beside me okay?’ Harry asked as he saw yellow liquid ooze out from the bite mark Aayla made at the tail.
Aayla laughed and stabbed another Gwindian tail and placed it into Harry’s own tray to the young man's shock.
A/N: Thank Tom Kristal for this chapter; his email renewed my eagerness to update Sword and magic as often as I can. His email also made me ask the question myself: Am I a Star Wars fan too? Of course I am! (though i did not watch the prequels a thousand times... just a few dozen times)
Favorite space movie of all time: Empire Strikes Back! Even better than any STAR TREK movie out there!
And so I got my lazy bum off the couch and sat my lazy bum on the lazy boy and wrote this chapter. Updates will be more often
