Shadow

I am the shadow,
the unseen girl,
watching with hungry eyes,
at the world go by,
beautiful people,
with masked faces,
and misery in their hearts,
I am the shadow,
forgotten as I watch,
ignored as I wait,
for the time,
when the masks melt away,
and we are left naked,
to our own feelings,
and blind to our own fears,
I am the shadow and still I wait.
