  It sure is a different way of looking at the White Fang and his offing himself. I like the tone: rigorous, bitter, but not full of wangst and over-the-top regret.

  I don't even know Naruto, but I saw this come up in the "featured stories" and it caught my eye -- and wow, you've done such cool things with this. I do know the Lorrie Moore book you're borrowing from, and I think it was a great choice -- just fractured enough, just wry enough, to be able to take on a really difficult subject without it turning to melodrama.
