When The Day Met The Night
0 ReviewsWell he was just hanging around Then he fell in love And he didn't know how But he couldn't get out Just hanging around Then he fell in love
Her eyes were such a startling blue and it held your attention almost against your will, but it seemed like a crime to look away. Never in his life had Brendon thought he would feel such intense love for someone he just met. Her entire life thus far had been completely unexpected yet so long awaited. He could remember the first time she decided to make her presence known to him by kicking his hand while it laid ontop of Kristin's belly. It seemed that that moment was more than just a few months ago to him. Time stood still for Brendon as he held his baby girl for the very first time.
[/Past
Brendon had not planned to meet her that night, a complete meeting by chance. The outcome of this evening changed Brendon's life forever.
CRASH! Brendon's car slammed into the back of the car in front of him. Fuck! he thought to himself as he assessed the damage from the driver's seat. He glanced away from the road for literally 2 seconds and this is what happened. That car in front of me wasn't even that close! Brendon undid his seat belt and slowly climbed out of the car to make sure the other driver was okay and got the answer to his confusion. Someone had run the red light heading east bound and the car heading northbound with the green light proceeded through the intersection and got hit. The driver in front of Brendon had hit the breaks to prevent from joining that accident only to get into one herself.
"Hey are you okay?" Brendon said to the blonde woman who was climbing out of the car that he hit.
"Yeah, I'll probably have a little bruising from the seatbelt, but nothing major," she said and rubbed her shoulder as she looked over the accident.
"I'm so sorry, I can't believe I wasn't paying better attention," he said feeling bad. Police were already arriving on the scene and the driver's from the the accident were walking around, appearing to have only minor injuries.
"It's not your fault, I hit the brakes pretty hard to not be apart of that." She pointed to the other accident, which was only feet in front of them.
"Insurance won't see it that way," he laughed lightly.
"True," she said and shurgged. The police officers made their way over to Brendon and the woman to get their accounts of both accidents and get police reports set up.
"Do you have a way of getting home miss?" The officer asked the woman.
"Uh, no, not really. I am from out of town house sitting for a relative. I can call a cab," she said and dug into her purse for her phone.
"I could give you a ride. My roommate is on his way to pick me up." Brendon offered
"Are you sure?" She asked and looked into his eyes. Brendon at that moment felt slightly different, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Of course, no sense in you paying for a cab." He smiled at her and she smiled back.
"Thanks," she said and turned to the officer who nodded and walked off. "I'm Kristin by the way."
"Brendon," he said and leaned against the police cruiser next to her. "So you are house sitting, where are you from?" He asked curiously.
"The most boring place on earth, Kansas." She said and the way she said it made it seem like she truly was bored.
"I've been there a few times, it's not too bad."
"Why on earth would you travel there?" She said faking total shock.
"For work, I travel a lot." He said.
"What do you do?" She asked looking at him a little closer.
"I am a musician in a band called Panic at the Disco." He stated and rubbed the back of his head.
"That's why you look so familiar! I have a few of your CDs." She smiled at him and leaned back against the cruiser.
"My roommate is here," he said and gestured towards the car that had just pulled up behind the police cruiser. She followed Brendon to the car and he leaned down to talk to the driver through the window. "Hey, we're giving her a ride home. I hit her car and she's from out of town."
"That's cool. Hey, how's it going?" His friend said to Kristin.
"Could be worse," she smiled and climbed into the backseat and Brendon got in on the front seat.
They drove her to an apartment complex just a few blocks from where they lived.
"Thanks for the ride, I really appreciate it."
"Don't worry about it. It is the least I could do considering I hit your car." He said after turning in the seat to smile at Kristin.
"Well maybe I'll see you guys around," she said and climbed out of the car and started walking to the apartment building.
"Dude go get her number she's super hot!" His roommate Ethan said.
"Doesn't that seem a little weird?" He said. It's not like he wasn't attracted to her. Something about her made him feel just different and in a good way, almost like he was more alive than before.
"Who cares. Look she's about to go into that first one on the left. Go!" Ethan said and pushed him towards the door.
Brendon decided to go for it at the last second and jogged up to the door that had closed only seconds later and knocked. God I am sweating I'm so nervous right now. he thought and then the door opened.
"Hi," Kristin said with a surprised smile.
"Hey, I know this is probably inapropriate considering I hit your car, but I would like to have your number so I could take you to dinner sometime while you are in town." It all came out so fast and was almost impossible to decipher. Kristin laughed and smiled even bigger.
"Sure," she said and Brendon handed her his phone and she entered in her number and he saved it.
"I'll give you a call later tonight after I get things taken care of from the accident."
"Okay, bye Brendon."
"Seeya," he said and turned around and walked back to the car. He looked at the number in his phone and smiled brighter than he ever had before.
