"So where are we going?" I asked.
"The Way's house. We use their garage." He answered, focusing on something in the distance. I nodded and poked around in my bad until I found what I was looking for. I slid my glasses onto my face and thought I heard a little 'thank you!' from my eyes. Everything became so much clearer. "Oooo! You got glasses like Mikey! You guys are both nerds!" Frank laughed. He was right, I did look like a nerd with glasses, that's why I never wear them.
"Thanks Frank! You make me feel so much better about myself." I laughed with him as we made a right. We were only in the car for 5 minutes when we pulled to a stop. The house was the same size as mine. Little, with bright shutters and a small front porch. The only difference was that the Way's had flowers. Aunt Jen and I had never really been big with planting. I opened the door and stepped out into the cool night air. Frankie came to stand next to me and looped his arm through mine.
"Welcome to my second home." He said pushing through the door without knocking. "Hey Mrs. Way!" Frankie called to who I was assuming was Gerard and Mikey's mom. I little blonde woman rushed to the doorway.
"Hello dear!" She called, embracing Frankie. Then she turned to me. "You must be one of the internes!" She hugged me too.
"Yes! I'm Eva." I smiled at her.
"Well Eva, I think we better get downstairs." I said goodbye to Mrs. Way and followed Frankie to a door at the back of the house. As he pulled it open, music and laughter floated out of it. We went down the stairs into a dimmly lit room. By the time we reached the bottom of the stairs, everyone was there to meet us. Gerard gave me a warm hug while Mikey and Ray offered small waves.
"Shannon!" We exchanged a small hug before turning back to the room. Four other people had joined us.
"Hi! I'm Isabella!" A tiny girl with hot pink hair offered her my hand. "Frankie's girlfriend." She added, stepping backwards to stand next to Frank. She was only a few inches shorter than him. They made the cutest couple! A girl with long, brown, wavy hair offered me her hand next.
"Amy." Her face lit up with a smile.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Eva." I felt my face get a little warm as I watched Amy lean into Gerard. He wrapped an arm around her and used his other hand to poke her nose ring. My eyes shifted to Ray and the girl I was assuming was his girlfriend. She smiled.
"I'm Romy. Nice to meet you." Romy was thin with long, dark brown hair. She looked to be just as tall as Ray, maybe an inch shorter. So far all of them were extremely nice and seemed like people I could hand out with. Then I turned to Mikey and the last girl. She just kinda glared at me like she was seeking revenge.
"Taylor." Her tone was hard and cold. I nodded with a smile and quickly turned around. She was a pretty girl with blonde hair and shocking blue eyes. The only thing was, I wasn't so clear on what I had done to get on her bad side already. Shaking the negitave thoughts from my mind, I took a seat next to Shannon on the floor. While everyone else mumbled and tuned guitars, I glanced around the room. In one corner, there was a bed and in the other was a bathroom door. I could only find one small window. The walls were covered with drawings and posters. The sudden sound of a song starting, pulled me back into the practice. Frankie and Ray sttod with guitars, Mikey with a bass. Gerard was dancing around with a corded mic, tangling everyone up. From the second their first song was over, I was dying for more. The sound they made was amazing and made being their intern so much more exciting. They continued to keep me captivated through the entire practice. After all of the songs had been played, the boys retired to a spot next to their girlfriends. We talked about everything from horror movies to comics. When I finally pulled out my cell to look at the time, I let out a small gasp.
"Frank. it's 11:56!" My voice was small, yet worried. What if we didn't make it back in time? How could I ruin my only chances of actually living this summer? He hopped up from his place next to Isabella and joined me in rushing up the stairs.
"Oh fuck! You're dad's gonna kill me!" Any other time I would have corrected Frank and told him that Austiin wasn't my dad, but now all I was worried about was making it home before 12.
