When we got out of the car, I glanced over at Frank. He looked over at me and smiled, then winked. I laughed and rolled my eyes. Shannon and Amy were in deep conversation, while Gerard and Ray argued over what sounded like lyrics. I walked in between Isabella and Frank who were takling about throwing a party. I wasn't really listening to anything that was goign on. I was too busy thinking about what had happened in the car. Why was Frank trying to get Mikey and me together? Why did everyone dislike Taylor so much? If Mikey didn't love her, why was he dating her? For no reason at all, I turned to find Mikey. He and Taylor were walking a few feet behind us. He looked pissed and she looked like she always did, angry at the world. None of this was making sense. I was relieved when we made it through the mall doors, and Gerard made a suggestion.

"Maria is running late and won't be here for a while, so why don't we shop around a little first?" Everyone agreed. "Okay, first stop, the bookstore!" Frankie groaned.

"But Gerard.....I wanna go to Hot Topic! Anyone with me?" Taylor and Romy raised their hands. "Fine, lets go girls!" Frank looped his arms through theirs and headed to Hot Topic.

"Um..Gerard? I actually wanted to check out the c.d. shop." Ray confessed.

"Oh! I'll come to! I can pick a movie for tonight. You wanna help Amy?" Isabella asked.

"Sure! We have to make sure it's one Gerard hasn't seen. Or else, he'll just ruin it for everyone." Amy laughed, following Ray and Isabella. Gerard sighed and looked defeated.

"Are you guys gonna come with me?"

"Sure! There's a new zombie novel that just came out. I've been meaning to pick it up." Gerard laughed.

"Zombies are pretty kick ass! You comin' Mikes?" Mikey nodded.

"I guess. They have a comic section right?"

"Hell ya! Best part of the store! Well...not that I've ever been there or anything." I answered, managing to get a smile out of the brothers.

"Well lets go! I could really use a coffee." Gerard led the way into Barnes and Knoble. Before he even started looking at the books, he headed over to Starbucks. "Eva, do you wanna get some coffee with us?"

"No, I'm good." Athough I really wanted a coffee too, there was somewhere I needed to go....alone. I knew exactly where I was going, through all of the shelves to the very back of the store. There it was. The over-stuffed armchair that was barely touched by anyone. I started to tear up, just from looking at it. Before I knew it, I was sinking into it's dark red fabric, the memories suddenly flooding my head. I couldn't tell you how many times my mother and I had sat in this very chair together. We shared secrets, stories and tears. It was in that chair, that my mom had told me my first story and where I told her about my first crush. But the good memories weren't the only ones that came back to me. Ones from the night my parents died came back too. The whole scene played out in my head. The gun shots, the blood. It was like it was happening all over again. The tears kept rollong down my face no matter how hard I tried to wipe them away. My thoughts were cut off, when I felt two arms suddenly tighten around me.

"Shhhh. It's okay. You're fine, I'm here." Mikey lifted me off the chair and pulled me onto his lap. I burried my head into his shouder and could feel him running his hand through my hair. It took me a while, but eventually I pulled myself together.

"I'm sorry Mikey, I just..." I couldn't find the right words.

"Why are you appoligizing? This is what friends are for."

"Thanks Mikey." I whispered, laying my head on his chest.

"You wanna tell me what happened?" I noddedd and began the story. I told him everything from the first time my mom brought me here, to the last time I ever saw her. He listened the whole time, squeezing me tighter. When I was done, he wiped my tears and told me that everything was going to be okay.

"Mikey?" I asked, my voive shaking.

"Yeah E?"

"What's the deal with you and Taylor? You always look so pissed and annoyed when we talk about her." I felt him sigh under me.

"Please, I really don't want to talk about it."

"But Mikey, I told you everything. Please?"

"I was best friends with her brother, Matt, when we started dating. She was so happy, and full of life. We couldn't stand to be apart. One day, her brother was driving home from work, when he was killed in a car crash. Nothing has ever been the same with her since. Everyday I keep thinking she's gonna change back into the Taylor I used to know. The Taylor I loved. No matter how hard I try to get closer to her, she pushes me away. I think about leaving her, but then feel guilty. It's all so hard."

"Mikey? Eva?" Gerard called out. I quickly jumped off of Mikey's lap. He stood up next to me and answered Gerard.

"We're over here!" Gerard came around a corner with a stack of books.

"Oh! Hey guys, look what I found!" He hurried over and sat on the floor with the books next to him.

"What's up Gerard?" Mikey asked, showing no sign of what just happened.

"Check out all these comics I just found!" Mikey and I sat on the floor with Gerard, avoiding the chair. We each took a book out of the stack and started to read. I was on my 5th one, when Gerard jumped up. "All that coffee is making me pee!" He called over his shoulder, running to the bathroom. Before Mikey could go back to his comic, I pulled it out of his hands.

"Mikey, I think you know what you need to do. You deserve better than this!" I felt the anger bubbling up inside of me. "You can't let someone treat you like this!" He placed his hands on my shoulders.

"You're right E. I think I know what I've got to do." I offered him a weak smile and he pulled me in for a hug.

"Mikey, I think it would be best if we didn't tell anyone about this. Especially not Frank." He laughed in agreement and pulled away to look at me.

"Scout's honor." He placed his hand over his heart.

"You were a boy scout?" I laughed.

"Well, only for a day but it still counts right?" We pushed ourselves away again at the sound of Gerard's arrival.

"Amy just texted me. Maria met up with them and they are waiting for us at the pizza place."

"Okay! Sounds good!" I pulled myself of the ground and helped Mikey up too. We followed Gerard through the aisles of books. Before we reached the door, he stopped and turned to me.

"Hey, did you ever get your zombie book?" He asked. I smiled and looked at Mikey.

"Nope. I found something more interesting."
