"Really man? Just shut up!" Mikey tried to defend himself, but it really wasn't working.
"Whatever you say little guy!" Gerard rolled his eyes. I walked past Mikey to go stand next to him.
"Ya know Gerard, you really should be nicer to your little brother." I laughed. Mkey sighed behind us. The rest of the walk to the pizza place, Gerard told me tons of stories from his and Mikey's childhood. Although I enjoyed them, I was relieved when we finally made it to the restaraunt. The hostess looked at us and then directed us to the back. There were multiple tables pushed together so all of us could sit. I recognized evertone at the table, except one girl who I assumed was Maria. Her hair came down to her shoulders, the tips dyed white. Her brown eyes smiled at me from her place between Ray and Taylor.
"Eva, Maria. Maria, Eva." Gerard introduced me to her.
"Nice to meet you." She said, offering a small wave.
"You too." I took a seat between Amy and Mikey.
"We got the best movie ever for tonight! You're coming right?" Isabella asked me.
"Yeah! Movie night at the Way's! Can you come?"
"Umm...I don't know. I'll call my aunt. Are you comming Shannon?" I asked.
"Don't think I'm gonna be able to make it. It's my grandma's birthday, and she's turning 98 so I can't miss it." She sighed.
"No can do Eva. As much as I'd love to come watch all of you get drunk, I have a meeting with the owner of a very sucessful venue. I'm trying to get us booked."
"Awww whatever Maria!" Gerard laughed, just as a plump woman come to take our order. "We need 3 large pizzas, all plain....for the vegetarians of the group." TThe woman nodded and tuddled of into the kitchen. Before long, we were all laughing and sharing stories. Shockingly, we finished all of the pizza with no problem. It was nice getting to know Maria. I was really looking forward to the rest of the summer. We all said our goodbyes and piled back into cars. Once again I was stuck with Ray, Mikey and Frank.
"Text me and let me know if you can come tonight!" Frank yelled, as I hopped out of the car.
"Will do!" I called over my shoulder. "Bye guys!" I turned and pushed open the front door. Jen and Austin were standing in the living room. Jen was wearing a purple dress and loads of makeup. The clunky necklace she was wearing looked like it weighed 10 pounds. Austin was dressed up too, looking fancier than I had ever seen him before.
"Oh Eva! Glad you're home. We are just about to leave." My aunt said slinging her oversized purse over her shoulder. "Austin, can you go get the suitcase?"
"Suitcase? Where are you guys going?" She smiled.
"We forgot to tell you. We are going up to New York for JoAnn's birthday party." JoAnn was a family friend, who had always been very supportive of my family.
"Okay, well are you staying overnight?"
"Yes, we won't be home until Monday morning." I sighed.
"So I guess that means I can't go out tonight."
"Yep! You need to stay home. Now we really have to go! Bye love!" With that, the were out the door. I locked it after they left and pulled out my phone.
Hey Frank! Srry, but I can't make it tonight! XO-E
Within 20 seconds, he responded.
Awww! We'll miss u!
I spent the rest of the afternoon reading comics, and playing my Misfits c.d. over and over again. Realizing I wasn't wasn't going anywhere tonight, I pulled on my favorite p.j. bottoms. They were red fleece with black stripes. Along with that, I put on a tight black tanktop. After grabbing a bottle of water from the kitchen, I plopped onto the couch in the living room and crawled under a blanket. Being home alone really freaked me out, especially since we didn't live in the nicest part of town. I scrolled through the guide until I found something to watch. The Titanic was my favorite movie ever and I cried every time I watched it. Luckily it just started. It was just getting to the part where they spotted the iceburg, when I heard a knock at the door. I seriously pissed myslef, when I jumped up. Of all nights for some creeper to come to to my house. I crept to the front door and peeked through the peep hole. I gasped and pulled the door open.
"Mikey! What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I...I did it E. I...um I told 'er!" I could smell the alcohol rolling off of his breath as I tried to understand the slur of his words. I pulled him through the door and watched as he stumbed into the living room.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I sat down next to him.
"I told Taylor."
"What? What did you tell Taylor?" I demanded.
"I told her that she was a bitch and that..and that, um. Oh and that we are over....I think."
"You what?! Mikey you should have never done that! You're drunk and you have no clue what you're saying! Tomorrow, after your hangover, you're gonna regret loosing Taylor." He frowned.
"No I won't! And you were the one who told me to do it."
"Yeah, it's your fault! You're the reason she said she hates me!" Mikey turned from me and started to cry. Believe it or not I cried too. The whole way up to my bathroom, I let the tears roll down my face.
What kind of friend are you? You're the one who told Mikey to end it with Taylor! Maybe if you went to the Way's tonight, you could have stopped Mikey from screwing up!
Everything whirred around in my head as I ran the thin razor blade across my wrist. That was the only way I knew how to make everything better. I let my body sink to the bathroom floor, where I fell asleep.
