Note: I do not own Criminal Minds or any of its characters. Spoilers for the Foyet arc, departs from canon. Also this is a parody and is not meant to be taken seriously at all! I hate Foyet and everything he did, but he's so fun to write. So please don't tell me how Aaron wouldn't do this and stuff like that because I know that already and I don't support it but it's a parody.
"I'm so sorry, Aaron." Rossi said, placing a hand on Aaron's shoulder.
"Are-Are they sure?" Hotch swallowed. "I mean maybe-" He broke off, knowing as he said it that he'd sounded like any other victim's family.
Rossi nodded. "I'm sorry. Do you want me to leave the case files with you?"
Hotch shook his head. "No. I won't forget what…..what happened." He made his voice crack at the end. And it was true. He'd memorized it. Foyet had broke in through the back door, minutes after Aaron had left to take Jack to the playground, and stabbed Haley 67 times, left a note saying, "For you." signed with the Eye of Providence, called the police to let them know, and then left.
"I could stay?"
"No."Aaron replied. "I-I appreciate it but I think, J-Jack and I need to be alone." He finished in a whisper.
"Of course." Dave offered a one-sided smile. "I understand. Call me in the morning? Just to let me know you guys are ali-alright?"
Hotch returned the smile. "Sure."
"Okay." Dave patted him on the shoulder and kissed the sleeping Jack on the top of the head. "Goodnight…" Casting a lasting glance at the two, he headed back into the elevator, and presumably back into his car.
With a sigh, Aaron unlocked his door, entered the apartment, and relocked the door behind him. He made sure to reset the alarm and then went to lay Jack down in his room. Pulling the covers up over Jack's shoulders and giving a smile, Aaron headed into his room.
Closing the door, he got changed, flicked the light switch and crawled into bed. Hotch hadn't been there for more than a couple of seconds when the light flicked back on. Blinking his eyes, he sat up in bed and looked towards the door.
"George?" He whispered, shielding his eyes. Standing in the doorway was the Boston Reaper.
"Did you like my gift?" The man replied smugly.
Hotch threw the covers out of the way. "Hell, yeah!" He laughed. "I have to admit, I wasn't entirely sure you weren't just fucking with me. Thanks!"
Foyet shrugged. "Hey, the bitch took your son out of a stable environment and only let his father see him on random occasions! Held on to grudges… clearly had no business raising a kid! I mean, maybe she wouldn't have hit him, but growing up in a place where you're never forgiven… no one should have to go through that."
"Exactly!" Aaron nodded. "I couldn't let my son grow up like that!"
"I understand. I grew up in the same environment you did. When I heard some other kid was about to go through something of the same thing, I had to help out!"
"Yeah," Hotch gave a sheepish grin, "I would have filed for custody but I didn't think it would work. I mean she is the Mom, and it's hard to prove psychological abuse that hasn't happened yet."
Foyet held his palms up in the air for a moment. "Hey, I know you don't always agree with me, but trust me, it's better this way. Way easier than going through all that legal red tape!"
Hotch shrugged. "Let's agree to disagree!"
"Okay!" Aaron shrugged. "But you do realize that I can't stop my team from hunting you?"
"Of course! But don't worry, I'm not that easy to catch."Foyet smirked. "Anyway, see you next week? After the investigation's over?"
"Definitely! Jack will be glad to see 'Uncle George' again!"
