Wow, this is absolutely wonderful. I love the tone of the old man. The end is what got me, this is the old fae tales he's trying to tell. Thank you for posting this, I very much enjoyed reading it. -

To have the stillness bred out leads to the question, "by whom?" Excellent.
I can tell what the iron's for, but not the nails. -

Wow. This is amazingly well written. I love the tone to it. And, for some reason, it reminds me very much of the work by Terry Pratchett.
The iron nails at the end were a good touch.
