Of Friends and Assholes

Note: I do not own South Park or any of its characters. Based off of and spoilers for Volcano. Takes place just after they see Cartman as Scuzzlebut. Quotes in italics.
"Dude it's Scuzzlebut! Cartman wasn't lying!" Suddenly Kyle feels a pang of…what? Remorse? Sorrow? He's not sure. All he's sure of is that he won't be seeing Cartman again. He realizes that he's been thinking his pseudo-friend has just been playing some idiotic joke, but now he knows that Cartman really was eaten by this monster.
'Damn, why do I actually feels sorry for the asshole?' He thinks as they chase after the creature who murdered Cartman. They say that if you're around a person long enough, you start to like them. He'd never thought that was actually true.
Stan volunteers to kill it as they catch up with the creature; he makes some boasting comment about how he'll show his Uncle how great he is, but Kyle doesn't care about motives right now. "Kill it, Stan, kill it!" Kyle says. 'For Cartman.' He thinks. "Come on Stan, do it!"
But of course Stan wimps out. "Aww, dammit I can't do it!"
'Why the hell not?' Kyle wants to ask. 'Don't you realize that thing killed Cartman?'
Uncle Jimbo demands to have the gun but suddenly Scuzzlebut rips off his skin and, "HEY! GODDAMIT DON'T SHOOT ME!"
"CARTMAN?" Stan asks.
All sense of benevolence and friendship leaves. 'YOU ASSHOLE!' Kyle thinks and goes back to hating Cartman.
