A Moment To Pray
0 ReviewsA young half-Ishbalan girl battles confusion, love, hate, and pain as she travels as an outcast to both worlds.
Chapter 1
Past
I lived in Ishbal since I was born, even though my father was not Ishbalan. I adopted the religion and the people. You would think my light skin and slightly darker hair would give away my mother’s sin.
I was 8 when the war broke out. My brother went missing while my mother and sister were taken from me; the only people who ever loved me without a doubt. It was then that HE busted threw the door. I still to this day don’t know his name but it doesn't matter. He saved me even though I was an outcast. He took me to safety; running with our people and his brother out into the desert. But one of the alchemists found us and attacked.
I was horrified at what he did to my savoir and his brother. War is too much for any child and the now scared man was all I had. I clung to him till he awoke to discover that he was truly living in a nightmare. But after a few short words with his dying brother he picked me up and ran off into the fading light.
He left me in a village saying that he was alone in this world and not even Ishbala smiled down on him. But I followed him and became his silent companion. I told myself on that day that I was going to prove that he was not alone in this world. That Ishbala still loved him.
I am Ethan, and this is my journey. I will give you a moment to pray.
