15 year old Jayde Skyes turns to her four best friends for help, and is given a box of cookies and a glimmer of hope.
Running from that hell I call home. Pulling out my phone I send out a five word text.
Abandoned home. Park in five.
I ran straight to the park, and slowed down once I passed the little kids' play area, and walked towards our 'meeting place' behind the library, which conveniently backs up near the little rubber-chip covered kiddie area. I didn't worry about anyone being around, as it was around 12 at night, in the middle of December. The 13th to be exact. I sit on the frozen ground, silent tears still falling. After a few minutes, I hear footsteps coming from around the corner. I look up to see none other than my four best friends. I guess I had a sign on my face stating what I was thinking; Why is everyone here..? I only texted-
"We were all at mine when you texted Gee." Ray stated, nodding toward a VERY concerned looking Gerard.
Gerard sat beside me, "They're not-
My furious nodding cut him off, and I started sobbing into his shoulder.
I slowly pulled up my left sleeve up in the freezing weather, revealing many scars, and a freshly engraved set of letters.
"He did this?" Frank asked, sitting on the opposite side of me and I continued to cry into Gerard's shoulder.
Ray looked at my arm as Frank and Gerard attempted to calm me down. Mikey, Gerard's younger brother, stood awkwardly to the side. After a few minutes I calmed down quite a bit, but I was still making these embarrassing hiccup sounds when I tried to talk.
"C'mon, Jay, Guess what we got?" Frank said, poking me repeatedly until I looked up to see a box held inches from my face.
"It's part of your Christmas present, but I thought I'd give it to you early." Gee stated, as Ray and Mikey sat down to watch me open it.
I tore the paper away from the box, the hiccuping finally stopping, and pulled the top off of the container. Inside I found a dozen oatmeal cookies and five chocolate roses. I smiled and picked up a cookie, and proceded to shovel the thing down my throat. Did I mention I love oatmeal cookies?
"Owh em awwd, fang yoo!" I attempted to say, with a mouthful of cookie. The four of them laughed a little, even Mikey, and I joined in after swallowing the delicious cookie.
"Thanks" I stood up closing the box again. "Can I stay at one of yours tonight?" I asked, Ray's 'fro bouncing around as he nodded.
"We are all staying at Ray's anyway.." Mikey finally chimed in.
Feeling much better than before, I yelled out "THE GREAT MICHAEL WAY SPEAKS!" Gaining giggles from Frank and Gerard. Ray just shook his head, smiling, and Mikey just pouted.
"C'mon Mikes. Y'know I love ya." I insisted, giving him a hug, wincing as one of the cuts split open again.
"Shit" I hissed, pulling my sleeve back up to see fresh blood running down my arm. The "L" and part of the "Y" had torn open again, letting the red liquid run down over all the scars. I stared at the sliced word.
It fit in right along with the rest of them.
I started tearing up, on the edge of crying again. Gerard carefully pulled my sleeve over the words.
"Jayde..you're staying with me and Mikey for a few weeks. I'll come help you pack tomorrow."
I just stared at him, like he was crazy. I hugged him, crying and thanking him repeatedly. After recovering from my little outburst, I grabbed my box, wiped my eyes, and we all headed for Ray's house.
We got there around 1:30 in the morning, and we all headed upstairs to his room as Ray went to find something to patch my arm up with for now.
He came back with a container of this antibacterial something or another spray, a hell of a lot of gauze, a towel, and an ace-bandage. I almost screamed when he sprayed the stuff on the cut after wiping the blood off. That shit hurt! He wrapped some gauze around it and secured it with the ace-bandage-wrap-thing.
"It hurt?" Frank asked.
Poking at the bandage, Where does he get this stuff? I wondered, and shook my head no to Frank. Worst mistake ever. Suddenly, Frank jumped on top of me and started tickling me. Within a few seconds I was on the floor dying of laughter.
"Je-Jesus Fuc-ucking Christ! FRAN-ANKIE!" I yelled through laughter, "Get off me, you id-diot!"
He just ignored me, and all of a sudden Gerard ninja-kicked Frank off of me(Not hurting him!) and helped me up. I almost died when I say his eyes. He had taken some eye-liner and drew a black mask over his eyes.
"NINJA!" I screamed, and ran to hide in Ray's closent. I heard Frank and Gerard jokingly yelling at each other.
"Look what you did, Where the hell did she go now that you scared her off!?" Frank screamed.
Thank FUCK Ray's parents were away this weekend.
"ME?! YOU were the one who attacked her!" Gerard yelled back, half laughing, as stood aside laughing his ass off, and Mikey attempted to keep a straight face as I casually walked between the two screaming boys.
"Girls, girls, you're both pretty. Stop fighting." I said, pushing them apart so I could walk past.
Everyone stared at me for exactly five seconds before we died twice laughing.
"You guys wanna watch something on tv or something?" Ray asked after the five of us stopped our laughing-fit.
"There's a Silent Library marathon all night I think.. I love that show, the people on it do some crazy shit for money!" I said.
"It's decided then!" Gerard said, leading the way down to the family/whatever room.
How my friends can change my mood from crying my eyes out in the snow to crying laughing so much I will never know.
