So I wrote this after I saw the music video for "The Kids From Yesterday", and just got thinking about how far this band has come, and how much they've changed. Kinda makes me sad, remembering the old days, when My Chem weren't so mainstream. Anyway, enjoy.

Darkness was falling over New Jersey, the sunset spreading hues of orange, pink and purple over the houses below. I was lying on the front lawn of my old house that I came back to sometimes when we weren't touring. Being here brought back memories of the old days, when I was failing high school because I was too busy dreaming about making it big. I wished I could go back to those days. Everything was so much simpler then. I sighed.

Frank came and sat down beside me. "Hey Gee. What's up?"

I sat up and smiled halfheartedly. "Just thinking about the old days. You know, we've come so far in the space of all these years. We've come from being basically nothing, to being an internationally recognised band. It's hard."

"I know what you mean. We're not the same people we used to be. You've got Lindsey and Bandit, I've got Jamia and the girls and we've all grown up. Mikey doesn't go around sticking forks in toasters anymore, at least not that I'm aware of."
I laughed. "Yeah, Mikey's grown up. I just kinda wish we could go back to the way it used to be, us guys, when we were touring around trying to earn a bit of money to make a living. We had fun then."

He smiled. "Yeah..."

We lapsed into silence, both of us gazing up at the darkened sky. Frank suddenly turned to me, touching my hand.

"Gee..."

I looked at him, feeling a surge of nostalgia for what we used to have. He looked nervous, and unbearably cute, biting his lip and looking away like a shy teenager.

"I want to do this one more time, please. I miss what we had. Can-"

Pressing a finger to his lips, I silenced him. "Shh. You don't have to say anything. I know."

Gently bringing my head closer to his, I kissed him. Closing my eyes, I could taste the remnants of the past, and a solitary tear slipped from eye for what could have been.
