Secret destroyers, hold you up to the flames
And what do I get, for my pain?
Betrayed desires, and a piece of the game
"Mikey, let's go home," I say, picking him up by the arms, my head spinning. My little brother gets to his feet, dusts his ass off, and then wraps his arm around my shoulder, helping me walk over to my car. Frank follows a few paces behind us. I’m confused as to why he’s still here. The jocks don’t want to punch him.
I’m so dizzy right now. I seriously don’t know how I’m going to drive home. I’ll just have to hope for the best.
"Frank, why are you here?" I question him, turning around. "We're in a hurry..." I look at my car that is taking up the two spaces, surprised it hasn't been towed away yet.
"What you did back there," he says, smiling. "That was fucking amazing!”
I look on in confusion as Frank reenacts the entire thing, complete with vigorous hand gestures and body movements. Honestly, I cannot remember what he is talking about. I guess I hit my head so hard it temporarily knocked out my memory of earlier. I just stare at him with narrow eyes, trying to remember.
“Let me come with you," Frank says after he is done acting out today’s events. I shift my eyes to look at Mikey. He just shrugs at me not caring either way; he obviously just wants to get home.
"Um...you don't even know me..." I say glancing sideways.
"It's better than being in this hell hole, okay?" Frank answers, and I understand what he means by this. He doesn't want to be alone again…not after meeting me and my brother, I really can’t blame him.
"Okay, let's go. Be warned, I don't follow traffic laws," I explain, getting into the drivers seat.
Frank scoffed, "Neither do I."
Frank gets into the back, spreading out across both seats. Mikey has his headphones in again, staring out the window.
Suddenly someone taps my window. It takes me a few seconds to comprehend what’s going on.
“Should you really be driving? I mean…look at you,” a girl with bright red hair and an English accent questions. I think I’ve seen her before; then again I might just be imagining things.
I look at myself in the rear view mirror. My face had a giant gash across it, and I’m bleeding from the mouth.
"It's not that far of a drive." I answer, as I begin to back up.
The girl just sighs in defeat, turning to walk away. I swear to God I’ve seen her before.
“Who was that?”
Frank laughs, “Amber, silly.”
I nod continue to drive at an abnormally fast pace.
Frank looks a little on edge as I drive. Mikey continues to shut everything out, staring out the window. I wonder what happened to my brother today that causes him to cry.
I’ll get him to tell me eventually but it might take a little time.
