Mel's P.O.V.
You will never believe what I found at Hazel and Spencer’s house! It's this old DVD...Okay, not so impressive, but it's what's on the DVD that's the best part. It's called Live In Denver. It's a concert DVD from the band Ryan was in before I was born, and a little while after I was born. Cool, huh?
Now, the really good part is that mom and Ryan are on there. I know, it's weird, but in a good way. It's from back when they first started dating, how sweet.
NOT! I don't do well with 'sweet'.
I stayed up watching it all night. It was a Sunday so I didn't have filming that day. Good thing, too, I was exhausted from staying up all night watching so much. I'm surprised mom didn't hear the television playing; she hadn't had a good night sleep in weeks. There was something bothering her, I could tell. But, if I asked, she wouldn't tell me what it was. She's always keeping secrets from me, especially since her and Ryan got together. Speaking of Ryan, mom let him stay the night. I don't even want to begin to think what they got up to.
As I was putting the disc back in its case, that way I could return it to Hazel without her knowing I took it; I found another disc in there. I hadn't noticed it when I was taking the disc out, so I took it out and had a look to see what it said on the front of it.
Live In Denver: Behind the Scenes.
I smirked down at the DVD in my hand and placed it in m DVD player, praying that it was what I had been hoping for. I clicked play and lied back in bed. I instantly knew it was exactly what I had been hoping for. Interviews with everyone on the tour.
Interviews could tell you a lot more about people. And they were also good for getting the dirt and stuff like that.
"Now, we have a lot of people to catch up with. But, we’re down one. The big question is; what's happened to Amanda, Ryan’s girlfriend? No one knows where she is. But let’s save that for later. Let's get on with the interviews." I quickly picked up the remote and paused the show, not wanting to watch the interviews when I couldn't think straight.
Mom never went back because of...me. I stopped her from meeting back up with her friends. I stopped her from competing in the other seasons. I stopped her from having a life. It was all my fault.
Ryan's P.O.V.
There was something wrong with Amanda. She wasn't acting like herself, she was different. And not a good different. She was distant from me and Mel and everyone else. I was worried about her. She let me stay with her for a few days, just so I could keep an eye on her. At night I cuddled her up next to me, but every time I went to kiss her good night, she moved away. There was something dreadfully wrong with her and I was worried.
"Morning, Ryan." Mel said, skipping into the kitchen. I was sitting at the island counter, drinking coffee and reading the morning paper; usual morning junk.
"Morning." I yawned in reply.
"Not much sleep, either, huh?" She asked, taking a seat beside me and throwing something onto the counter. I folded up the newspaper and placed it beside what she had placed. And that was when I saw what Mel had put down. Live In Denver. She'd been watching the DVD. Oh, shit...
"Mel, where did you get that from?" I asked, picking up the cover and staring at Brendon, Spencer, Jon and I’s eighteen-well, twenty in Jon’s case and nineteen in mine-year old faces in disgust.
"Oh, so you know what that is, do you?" She replied, jumping onto her feet on the stool, grabbing a torch and shining it in my eye.
"This isn't the time to go all bad cop on me!" I snapped at her. She hesitated before turning the light off and sitting back down on the stool. I watched as she took the DVD back into her hands and looked it over.
"I uh...borrowed it from Hazel." She told me, but she wasn't sounding so sure about that. I resisted the urge to smirk and tried a parental approach instead.
"You mean, you took it from Hazel." I corrected her.
"But you can't tell her I did!" I laughed, parental approach out the window. She was just like Amanda, it was hard to believe.
"I won't." I replied, "As long as you give it back." Mel violently nodded her head, agreeing with me as if I had some sort of control over her at all.
"I will next time I go over there." She then started eating the toast that I had failed to keep down myself. "Actually, moms going over there later, I'll go with her."
Mel's P.O.V.
"PLEASE!" I begged. Mom was on her way out the door and she didn't want me to go with her.
"Why do you want to come, Mel?" She asked, pulling me up from the floor. I could tell she wasn't impressed with me and was getting very impatient. I could deal with that. I just needed to go with her.
"I love going to see Hazel and Spencer. THEY'RE MY FRIENDS TOO!" I lied. I just wanted to return the DVD before one of them realized it was missing and then I'd have to answer all the weird questions about why I took it. And I didn't want that.
"Fine, you can come!" Mom yelled, she was angry at something and was taking it out on me. I was used to it. "But, you'd better keep out of the way!" She hissed, turning around walking to the car. I gave Ryan, who was standing in the doorway, a thumb up, before chasing after mom.
"What's in the bag, Mel?" Mom asked. I was sitting in the passenger seat as she drove us to Hazel's place. I was clutching my once plain black backpack to my chest. I'd customized it with paint, glitter, sequins and everything else I could get my hands on, making it my own unique backpack. Mom had shouted at me when I did it. She said I'd ruined a perfectly good bag, but it's grown on her. I can tell.
"Just some things in case I get bored." I told her, watching out the window as we sped past houses upon houses. I had no idea where we were. Good thing I wasn't the one driving.
"Mel..." My mother warned me.
"No prank stuff!" I promised. "Just my script, a coloring book, my crayons and a DVD." Truthful answer. I has my script so I could learn a few more of my lines, the DVD to return and my book to color in. I loved coloring, but mom had banned me from using pencils because I stabbed one of mom's friends in the leg once, hence the crayons. In my defense, it was his own fault! Tried touching my Xbox. And I wasn't having that!
Mom, after interrogating me some more about the contents of my bag, pulled up into Hazel's driveway. Her house was bigger than ours, but not as big as a mansion. It looked as if it belonged in Malibu, but, then again, so did Hazel and Spencer. Their house was amazing inside and out. It had four bedrooms, one with it's own bathroom, two more bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, study, living room and games room. Now I'm starting to sound like an estate agent.
As soon as Hazel opened the front door she grabbed mom's arm and dragged her up the staircase. I didn't even get a hello.
"Spencer's just made some burgers, help yourself!" The black-haired girl called back to me, as if she had only just realized I was there. Once the two were out of sight, I made a quick dash for he living room so I could return the DVD. I placed it back in the cabinet where I found it and wiped a bead of sweat from my face.
"What you up to?" I turned to face the door with a gasp, Spencer was standing there, arms folded, eyebrow raised.
"I-I was just l-looking through your DVD's! Sorry, I should have asked." I looked down at the floor 'in shame'.
"It's alright, Mel. I don't mind." He ruffled my hair and I looked up to see a soft smile on his face. "Anything you wanna borrow, just take it." I smiled back and closed the cabinet. "Come on, I've just made some burgers." I followed Spencer into the kitchen where there was a stack of freshly made burgers. I instantly grabbed one and plastered it with ketchup. Spencer only laughed at me, which was good.
Amanda's P.O.V.
It felt like deja vu to me. I was sitting in an unfamiliar bathroom, staring down at a little pink plus sign. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. Ryan was so careless when it came to using contraception. But I couldn't pin it all on him, it takes two to tango. The two of us were in that deep with it again.
Hazel pulled me into a tight hug, she'd promised to stay by me all the way. I felt so vulnerable at that point, like a little child myself. The only thing I could think about was how I was going to explain this to Mel. The past few weeks had been nothing but drama for her, this would hurt her badly. I couldn't put my little girl through that.
"What are you gonna do?" Hazel asked, perching herself on the edge of the bathtub. I didn't look up from the floor, my mind was all over the place. What was I going to do?
"I don't know." I admitted. Tears were starting to string together in my eyes. I didn't know what I was going to do. There weren't a lot of options for me this time around.
"Well, the best thing to do is put on a brave face and go downstairs." I nodded my head. Hazel always knew what I needed to do next.
The two of us walked downstairs once my tears had dried and I no longer looked half as bad as I did before. Mel was sitting in the games room with Spencer, apparently kicking his butt at some game on the PS3. The two of them had empty plates beside them, covered in crumbs from the burgers. Ketchup plastered their mouths, but they either didn't notice or didn't care. I watched them from the doorway, Mel was having so much fun.
"If you want to go home and sort some things out, Mel can stay here tonight." Hazel offered. It was the best offer I'd had all day.
"Thank you." I whispered in her ear, hugging her tightly. "Mel."
"Yeah." She replied, not looking away from the screen. Very typical of her.
"Are you okay to stay with Hazel and Spencer tonight?" I asked.
"NO, NO NO!" She yelled at the screen, but I didn't flinch. Obviously, Spencer had just kicked her butt at whatever game they were playing. "Okay, mom." She answered. "But if you just want some alone time with Ryan, you can tell me to get lost, you know."
"Trust me, that's far from what I wanna do."
A/N: Dun dun duh! Wow, it's been so long since I've written an author's note, huh? Anyway, there's a reason I'm writing one for this chapter.
Now, I already know the answer to this question, as I've pre-written most of the chapters left, but I'm curious to know, what do you think Amanda's having this time? Another girl, or a boy? I already know this, but I'm just curious to see what you guys think. :)
