A thousand scars, a thousand cranes
You say this life's just begun
I say it's already over
Who's the liar, who's the fake?
What's the difference in slices in paper and skin?

These fine lines
Caused by knives so sharp
A flash of silver ripping open skin
Exposing the white flesh, ruby red slowly spilling out
Every last drop, no reason to stop
Less flowing in my heart
Less feelings in my soul

A thousand scars, a thousand cranes
You say this life's just begun
I say it's already over
Who's the liar, who's the fake?
What's the difference in life and death?

Can't you just fake it?
The machines can
They pump your blood, give you air
They fake it so well
Your vital signs go on but I know you're gone
This existence without hope isn't life

A thousand scars, a thousand cranes
You say this life's just begun
I say it's already over
Who's the liar, who's the fake?
What's the line between trust and betrayal?

A stab in the back by the ones you trust me most
Sharp glass, icepicks, and rusty knives
Straight into my heart
They're stuck there til just breathing hurts
Emotions are now too much
You force yourself to feel
You swear you'll never be who they force you to be

A thousand scars, a thousand cranes
You say this life's just begun
I say it's already over
Who's the liar, who's the fake?
What's the difference between self-preservation and an act of hatred?

They've made you a monster now
A sociopath, hateful, uncaring
Through their actions, unthinking of consequence
There's nothing left of who you used to be
Is there any turning back? I don't know
And to be honest, now, I doubt it.
