One Shot: My Precious Lileh

The thunder clashed over the gloomy dark sky with the streaks of crisp white shattering the night every few minutes. Not a soul was wandering the streets, except one. He was the frontman of the rock and roll band Guns N' Roses. He was usually very ill-tempered and had a strong character about him, but tonight was very different...
Axl was rushing toward the hospital with anguish pasted all over his face. He never wanted this to happen. He never dreamed of anything this dreadful would happen. He wanted to give his life to her, so at least she could live on, but he knew very well that fairy tales and happy endings never worked out.
He was greeted with dozens of nurses and a handful of doctors with heartbroken looks upon their faces.
"Where is she!" He cried out as his breath escaped his body.
"Follow me Mr. Rose. She is in critcal condition..." A nurse not older than 35 with sandy blonde hair spoke up.
They walked him down the hospitals lifeless hallway. All doors on that section were closed except for one door. Death was in the air. Axl knew subconsciously before they had even took the long elevator ride up to the special cares unit, but still having his pure innocence within him, he thought maybe it wasn't over. Maybe he would have a second chance. Maybe it was all a terrifying nightmare. Maybe, just maybe when he awoke from this paralyzing nightmare, she would be laying next to him in bed.
None of the nurses had the heart to tell the young rocker that the only woman he ever loved was officially pronounced brain dead... Axl didn't need an explanation when he walked into the dreary hospital room to find her laying there, under white sheets.
"Oh dear God...Oh dear God no! Fuck please!!" He screamed as the satly tears poured from his green eyes.
Axl didn't know that morning when he would have the last and final fight with his precious girlfriend Lileh, that she would end up here and just a shell.
*Flashback*
"Just get out of my fucking house! You're a slut!"
"Axl please! Let me explain!" She pleaded.
"How could you fucking do this to me!" He held up the picture he had found inside her purse, of her kissing another man.
"Axl that was a long time ago! Why don't you ever trust me. You know I love you and only you! I would die for you..." She whispers.
"Then go out and do us all a favor!" His temper flared as he screamed at her as if she were thousands of miles away.
"Fine..." And with that she left, never to see her one true love again.
*End of Flashback*
"We were told that the transport driver was suffering from a sleep disorder and lost control of the vehicle. Her body had gone into cardiac arrest and we had lost her heart beat for 15 minutes. When we were able to stabelize her and bring her back to the hospital she suffered another lengthy cardiac arrest. We tried everything to save her and were able to get her heart beat going again, but she didn't have enough oxygen going to her brain..." The nurse tries to explain to Axl.
"So she's fucking brain dead?!" He screams with pain going through his beat up body.
The nurse looked to the ground with grief. She slowy shook her head yes and looked back up at the pain filled rocker. Silence filled the room as Axl stood staring at the lifeless body of Lileh laying in the tiny hospital bed.
"We'll give you some time to say your goodbyes." The nurse slowly walks out of the room and closes the pasty white door behind her.
Axl sat there for a few moments just staring at the woman he used to know. He had a void in his heart that kept deepening.
"Why?...Why?! Why did you have to leave me! Lileh you knew fucking well I loved you and still do!! Why can't you come and take me with you..." He grabs her lifeless cold hand and puts it between his two hands to warm it one last time.
Her body was fairly pale compared to what it use to be. Her eyes were shut concealing her ocean blue spheres. Her lips weren't what Axl remembered them like. Instead of being a bright pink they were slightly turning color. He wanted to scream at her and shake her awake. He wished that she would just open her beautiful eyes and tell him how much she loved him, just one more time.
"Why...Why you? Why not me Lileh..." He threw his head onto the bed and sobbed into her chest. He could still hear the faint beat of her heart, but he knew her mind was already gone. He kept his head on her chest for a few moments. He closed his eyes and listened. Her faint heartbeat kept him calm. For a moment he thought they were back home, both healthy and alive, but his thoughts were quicky gone when the beat of her heart slowed. She was leaving him, alone...
"Lileh please don't leave me. I love you with all my heart! Please don't go...please..." He grabbed the hospitals blankets as he sobbed.
A nurse came in to check her pulse while Axl held onto Lileh's little body. The nurse shook her.
"I'm sorry but...she's gone."
"She can't be..." He whispers faintly.
More nurses scramble into the room to prep Lileh for her departure. Axl couldn't hold himself up he was so distraught. He couldn't watch as they took his precious Lileh away. The thought of him always telling her that no one would take her away from him, replayed over again in his mind. He blamed himself and would do anything to go back and make things right, or at least switch places with her, so she could live on. He slowly walks over to her side. His voice chokes up as he speaks.
"I'll be with you soon Lileh...I promise." He places a ring he had bought earlier that month on her left ring finger. He had planned to propose that night, to apologize for his actions.
He leaned in and gave his lover a final goodbye kiss on her cold pale lips. This wasn't the end of them...Only the beginning of eternity.
