Scarlett gave me a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek, before we went our seperate ways, as we did every morning. She would always walk over to her group of friends, mostly made up of cheerleaders, and I would go and sit on a bench. That was what confused me the most about our relationship, she was the beautiful blonde, a cheerleader, a popular. She was envied by most of the girls in this school. Whereas I was classed as the little 'goth/emo' kid. It didn't surprise me that I was put into this stereotype. I had black, neck length hair, with a side fringe. It was straight and poofy most of the time. My skin was pale, but slightly tanned, and I had spider bites to the left of my bottom lip. People usually wouldn't put us together, as a pair...but it just happened.
It was the first day back from the Christmas break, and Christmas seemed to be the topic of everyones conversations. Describing and showing their friends what they had gained at Christmas and the events that had happened. I sat on one of the deserted benchs, quite far away from everyone else, but close enough not to look like I was seperate from everyone. I'd not really made friends since I was told that I could go to Earth. It was easier that way. It meant that I wouldn't have to hide my 'secret' from quite a lot of people, and they wouldn't ask me why I was different. It was something I hadn't even told Scarlett. I'd been sent to Earth on conditions that I wouldn't reveal my true identity to anyone.
Vance pulled up into the school parking lot. It was dark and damp and looked like something out of an action movie. There was odd bits of rubish and broken car parts in the corners.Vance took his usual space and unlocked the car. I stepped out and the cold winter air hit my legs, causing goosebumps to rise. I waited for Vance to lock the door before we walked into the school building side by side. The school was old and looked like a church in a way - it was mostly dark browns and cream colours. The lockers were old and gray. Numerous kids had been pushed into the lockers and many had been broken into. I walked up to my locker and pulled it open after undoing the red padlock on the front. I placed my black backpack inside and pulled out my schedule looked at my lessons. Today was Monday and I had History first thing. I rememberd the teacher telling us that this term was meant to be fun, but the teacher was a 40 year old single woman whos idea of fun was counting spoons and playing bingo at 11 oclock at night. I had no idea what it was going to be about. I pulled out my note book and pencil case. I closed my locker , leaving my backpack inside, so no one would steal it. I hucked my iPod under my jacket, and hid the wires. I pushed the buds in and walked to class.
