Unknown POV:
Wind. That was my favourite part of being outside. Sitting in the small garden; I could tune out the few remaining birds' soprano chirping, ignore the soft squeaking of the swing's chain and just... listen. The wind sings a beautiful song, sounding lonely to my young ears but beautiful none the less.
I stood, smoothing my white skirt and moved to the swing. The freshly cut grass threaded between my bare toes and I giggled as the scent tickled my nose. The bells on my wrist jingled when I began to swing higher and higher, laughing until my little lungs ached. I remembered the time when Jenny from across the road said she could swing higher than me, I dared her to try and when she couldn't she ran home crying. I smiled at the memory, milk teeth bared.
Daddy said he would be out soon and I wanted to get out all my smiles before they went to waste.
Just as I thought this, the glass door leading to our house creaked open and my Daddy stepped out onto the grass. Like all the other times, he didn't say anything; he held out one large hand and I took it. My hand was tiny compared to his and the white flesh disappeared when his red fingers curled closed.
"Daddy... Will it hurt again?" my voice cracked. Daddy turned his piercing eyes on my and only nodded, dragging me inside and locking the door.
I knew I would scream again tonight.
Well that was just the short prologue, Chloe is on writing the first chapter! Yey!
