Falling Into Place
0 ReviewsJust some Stashley fluff that I wrote one time, it sucks but people wanted to read it I guess
"Yeah?" Stefan answered. He was stood in front of the wardrobe in just his boxers, trying to pick out an outfit to wear. Ashley suspected he was picking colours that clashed the most. It kind of embarrassed Ashley and Dru out in the streets, people would stare and occasionally laugh at a grown man wearing green shorts and a pink tie dye T-shirt, but Stefan loved the attention. Ashley rolled his eyes behind Stefan's back, watching how he put his hands on his waist in such a feminine way, and how his figure gave him 'curves' as one might put it. It was ridiculous to say such a thing, Stefan was a man and men can't ever have curves, for obvious reasons. But it was true. His body was so... girly, and if Ashley was honest he kind of liked it.
Ashley was straight, though. Definitely straight. It wasn't that long ago that he'd broken up with his girlfriend. It hurt him to think about it, how he could love someone so much - practically devote a big part of his life to them, to have it thrown back in his face like it was nothing. He remembered telling Stefan those exact same words, knowing he could trust him. He remembered Stefan crying, all because Ashley was crying. He remembered Stefan holding him tight, and falling asleep on the couch like that, to wake up to Stefan still holding him as though to protect him. But most of all, he remembered how Stefan said he loved him.
Stefan was sat next to Ashley on the sofa, and within a matter of minutes they'd been so lost in their conversation that Stefan had scooched over so far he'd ended up on Ashley's lap. Stefan's arms were around Ashley's neck, bringing the two men closer and he rested his head on Ashley's shoulder. Neither of them thought anything of it, well, that was what Ashley thought. He assumed Stefan was trying to comfort him and he ended up letting his gay side come out a little, as he always seemed to do. That was just Stefan's thing, he wasn't the most heterosexual person in the world, but then again neither was Ashley. Plus, Ashley never tried to stop it from happening, he found it comforting.
They just sat there, Ashley staring blankly at the ground while absent-mindedly playing with the fabric of Stefan's T-shirt. He could feel Stefan's breath on his neck, and suspected he was falling asleep. It made him feel a little guilty, keeping him awake like that all so he could bitch and cry about something that wasn't Stefan's problem. He looked down to see if Stefan was sleeping, but instead got a pair of big brown eyes staring back up at him. Ashley smiled, and as soon as Stefan saw it, he smiled too, which made Ashley feel all warm inside. And then, he said it.
"I love you, Ash. I really do."
Ashley's breath hitched in his throat, for a reason he didn't understand. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary for them to say that they loved each other once in a while, it was quite simply brotherly love and Ashley didn't have a problem with that at all. But there was something different about it this time, it wasn't the same as any other. His heart started pounding, and a million thoughts ran through his mind. Something told him that Stefan really meant it, with all his heart. It was just the way he said it, how the words slipped out so effortlessly but seemed to be accompanied by a strong, forceful meaning. Tears threatened to spill as he stared into Stefan's warm, glistening eyes, but he couldn't pinpoint exactly what is was that was so different, so heartwrenching that it just made him want to...
...kiss him.
Of course, doing such a thing was crazy. He didn't know how Stefan would react and for some reason it scared him. His mouth opened slightly, taking a small breath as he tried to fight the tears, and he choked a reply.
"I love you too."
"Um, Ash? Ash?! Hellooo, Ashleyyy?"
He was suddenly pulled back to reality, staring at an almost naked Stefan waving a hand in front of his face.
"Oh, sorry..." he muttered, trying to avoid looking at Stefan's body whilst avoiding looking at his eyes, too.
"You wanted me?"
He stopped himself from saying something about wanting Stefan, and immediately scolded himself for thinking such a thing. He could feel his cheeks grow hot, and they grew a deep shade of crimson as he looked down at the ground.
He felt two fingers gently touch his chin, and lift his head up so he was looking Stefan straight in the eyes. He was immediatley taken back to his daydream, where he was staring into those beautiful brown eyes again. Neither of them said a word, but the words were loud and clear.
Stefan leaned forward, pressing his lips to Ashley's. A shiver ran down Ashley's spine and his eyes slipped closed, just as Stefan's did. He kissed back, daring to believe this was happening. In that moment, everything felt right. Like everything was slipping into place - no, like everything in the past had finally slipped into place, but he was too busy running away from the things that didn't matter to look back and see the things that did. Their kiss was just Stefan's way of turning him around and showing him, making him realise that everything was right after all.
Suddenly, Stefan lost his balance and toppled over, pushing him and Ashley backwards onto the bed. Ashley felt Stefan's girly frame on top of him and his heart started to pound. He thought as though it might not have been as awkward if Stefan actually had clothes on, but he didn't really care. Their eyes met, and this time it was Stefan's turn to blush. He rolled over, giggling as he landed next to Ashley. Their fingers intertwined, and Ashley whispered those words which he was all too familiar with.
"I love you, Stef. I really do."
Stefan smiled, giving his hand a squeeze before whispering back,
"I love you too."
Their lips met again and they could both feel the sparks ignite inside them, pulling each other close and neither of them wanting to let go.
