“Stevie? Steve?” the blonde grumbled but cracked an eye open blearily
“Yeh?” he mumbled, half taking in the sight of Tommy’s face peering in the bunk at him
“I’ve gotta go out for a little bit but don’t worry Vince is here” Tommy told him softly, running a hand through his hair as the drummer nodded, patches of fear dotted in his eyes “I’ll be back as soon as I can, I promise” Steve nodded before leaning in for a swift kiss and a hug as Tommy gave him a smile, leaving the bus at Nikki’s insistent call.
“Hey Steve” Vince greeted absentmindedly as he came out of the cabin
“Hey Vin” Steve answered grabbing a bottle of water and joining the singer on the sofas. He received a harried smile before Vince turned his attention back to his laptop screen, they sat in a comfortable silence for a while marred only by the clicks as Steven twisted the bottle cap off and the occasionally sipping noise before Vince sighed, shutting the lid of the computer and pushing it away from him
“Have you had any more of those weird messages?” Steve glanced up from peeling the label off his bottle startled
“No… the moving around helps”
Vince nodded, eyes darting to various corners on the bus “Vin, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing” the vocalist denied quickly as the drummer frowned in disbelief
“Vince?” the singer bit his lip then pushed his laptop towards the drummer, Steve glanced towards him confusedly Vince just looked pointedly at the machine. Steve frowned but opened the lid, a message alert flashed at him, Vince just clicked the red-cross on it and pulled another one up Steve scrolled through it, face becoming whiter with each sentence his eyes read and reread before looking at the singer again.
“What… how?” he stammered, fearing the answer as Vince shrugged, seeming to have calmed now he’d told someone
“No idea, it was in my inbox this morning” he took his laptop back from the drummer again and peered back at the screen
“I think we should ring Tommy” Steve whispered going to stand up before Vince’s hand enclosed around his wrist
“No! Didn’t you read! You can’t give him opportunities Steve! He might be on the bus!” he hissed as the drummer sank back onto the seat next to him
“There’s no one here but us”
“How do you know? We’re just gonna have to stay right here until they get back!”
Steven stared at him before seeing how serious the singer was, despite the edge of panic in his voice and eyes before glancing around nervously “Y…you don’t think he’s here do you?” he whimpered
“He might” Vince said with a serious nod, eyes never leaving the screen as Steve pulled his legs up onto the seat and wrapped his arms around them
“Do you really think he’s here?” he asked tearfully, blue eyes sparkling as Vince paused saying quickly, voice guilt-ridden
“Hey, hey I didn’t mean that; I’m sure, I’m sure we’re fine. There’s no one here we’d have heard them” he laid a hand on Steve’s arm comfortingly as the drummer’s eyes darted over the bus
“No, no you’re right! He could be here, watching us right now” Steve gasped, voice rising in panic as he turned to the singer and clutched his hands with a panicked strength that made the singer wince and try to pull free as he tried to console the other blonde.
“The only way onto the bus is the door and we’ve been sat here the whole time” he pointed out bluntly, trying to bring the drummer back onto rational thoughts rather than join him in panicking, hysteria was edging into Steve’s eyes as his hands travelled up to Vince’s arms, fingers biting into his soft flesh
“But he could have got in whilst we were asleep, he could be watching us right now and we wouldn’t know! Now would be the perfect time as there’s no one else here!” he snapped, shaking the singer roughly as Vince struggled to free himself
“Steve don’t be ridiculous! There’s no one here!”
“Exactly! …” Steve’s shriek was interrupted by the unmistakable sound of a window banging and Vince screamed, setting the drummer off as well and the two clutched each other.
“We’ve got to get out of here!” Vince hissed, untangling himself and standing up, hand still clasped within Steve’s strong grip as the drummer leapt up as well, tugging the singer to the door as a creak came from the bathroom and almost impossibly light footsteps sounded on the floor as the two blondes tugged at the door in a blind panic, finding it locked and the key missing as a voice announced silkily
“Hi Darling”
