"Mom and Dad are coming to stay here tomorrow," Mikey spat, "But I guess now you have your strong little boyfriend that won't be an issue."
"Well then I can't stay here," Gerard panicked, jumping up from the couch, "I can't be here, not with them."
Frank was a little shocked, Gerard had never been demanding before, but now, he was desperate to get away from his parents. Frank knew some things about Gerard's parents. Mainly that they used him for money and were cruel and disowned him. But it was confusing to Frank that if someone disowned Gerard, why would they come and visit him?
"I'll be here to protect you," Frank stated and Mikey snorted. Frank glared, because Mikey was being a huge asshole. "Their opinions mean nothing okay. You know you're perfect."
"You don't get it," Gerard shouted in a whisper, "Nobody understands." Gerard pointed at Frank, "Not you." Then Gerard pointed at Mikey, "And not you."
"What can I not understand? They're our parents and they seem genuinely sorry," Mikey sighed, "They're the only family that pay attention to me and that believe in me."
"You selfish asshole," Frank said, standing beside Gerard and clenching his fists, "He's ill Mikey, what are you? What's your problem? Nothing. You're just a lazy little shit who can't do anything for himself."
Mikey stared at the floor and Frank just got even more angry. His palms were becoming red as his nails dug into them so hard.
"I bet that's what you do when you visit your parents," Frank said advancing forward towards Mikey as Gerard sat down and sobbed, "You tell them all about how much money Gerard's making with your help. So you don't look like the fucking failure of the Way family."
Frank pushed Mikey's shoulder roughly with one hand, "Is that what you do Mikes, huh?" Frank pushed again. "Well, is it?"
"Yes, okay! Yes," Mikey spat, "But he'd be lost without me. He'd have nothing and nobody. He'd be alone. He wouldn't have you and he wouldn't have money. In fact he'd probably be fucking dead."
"So you think that makes it okay to put him down every chance you can?" Frank was furious. He couldn't see straight he was that blinded by anger. "You selfish fucker."
"You'd know about it if you had a brother who got more attention than you," Mikey shouted back, "But oh look you don't, so why don't you shut the fuck up?"
Frank just shook his head in disgust and walked over to Gerard where he was sat sobbing. Frank placed a hand on each of Gerard's arms and crouched down in front of him, much like he had the last time Gerard was this upset.
"Listen, Gee," Frank whispered hoping Mikey couldn't hear, "Whatever happens, I'm here for you. Your parents won't ruin our friendship okay? You mean a lot to me."
"B-but Frankie," Gerard breathed deeply, his voice a higher volume than Frank's, "You don't know what they do."
"And I'm sure it's terrible," Frank reasoned, "But you don't need to get this angry and upset."
"You don't get it," Gerard shouted, his high pitched voice sounding strained and his eyes red and puffy, "I don't want you around them! They're the worst people and you're the best. You can't meet the worst part of me. I won't let you."
"There's this thing about friendship that you might not know Gerard," Frank had to chose his words carefully to not scare Gerard, "It's a great thing because it means you accept the person at their worst and at their best. I'll do that for you."
Gerard shook his head, "You can't. You can't."
Frank didn't know what else to do, but wait until tomorrow and just be there for Gerard.
