I'm the outcast of outcasts, but my mum doesn't understand that a new school isn't going to change that. I didn't have any friends at my old school and didn't want any either. People think I'm weird because I have no interest in making friends, but that's okay because they leave me alone and that's what I like. My train of thought is broken as I approach the school gates. I notice a group of odd looking boys stood just outside the gates. I only notice them because one is pulling on the sleeve of another as he tries to light a cigarette. "Come one Gerard, I'm going to be late!" He whines. The one that I presume is called Gerard takes a drag and rolls his eyes. As he leans back as he exhales and notices me watching him. One second of awkward eye contact is enough for me, so I avert my eyes to the concrete below and speed up my pace. I can feel him watching me as I go through the gates and make my way to the school.

I sigh as I push through the double doors into the empty corridor. I remember that my mum gave me a map of the school grounds and I pull it out of my pocket. I get my bearings and head towards the Principal's Office. As I walk through the corridors I peak through the glass windows on the doors, by the looks of it Gerard and his friends will defiantly be late. Finally I arrive at the Principal's Office, I hesitantly knock on the door and wait for a reply."Come in" calls a gruff voice. I open the door and walk into the large room, I turn and close the door and then take a seat in front of the Principal's desk. "You must be the new girl" He says, I simply nod my head. He picks up a piece of paper from his cluttered desk and begins to read from it. "Katie Ward; a grade B pupil, quiet and well behaved. Well Katie, welcome to Belleville High School. I wish we had more pupils like you" I offer a weak smile in return for his attempt of welcoming me. "Here is your timetable for this week, make your way to lesson."

As I leave his office I look down at my timetable. First period Monday- Biology. I sigh once again, I haven't even been in this school for an hour yet and I'm already fed up. Maybe it's just schools in general. Using my map I begin to walk to Biology, but realising I have an extremely good excuse to be late I use it to my advantage and decide to explore the school. I take the longest route possible, avoiding the few people I see. I've just passed Math and the Canteen now just for some Science rooms and I'll be there. Suddenly as I turn the corner 'BAM' I walk into something, or maybe I should say someone. I look up to see the face of the boy who was worried about being late earlier this morning. I expect my face matches his. "Sorry, I'm in a hurry and I wasn't looking were I was going" he says rather quickly as he pushed his glasses up his nose. "No it's fine, it was my fault anyway" I say and smile at him. He blushes and hurries away to his lesson. Aw, he's pretty cute I think to my self as I prepare to be judged by a class strangers. I walk up to the door and pause for a second, I can hear the class inside gossiping.

I knock on the door and the class quiet down, here it comes, a young woman with short brown hair opens the door. "You must be Katie, I'm Mrs Thorpe your Biology teacher" She says. A Biology teacher teaching me a Biology lesson? I think to myself sarcastically, but smile politely. "Don't just stand there" She says sounding impatient. I quickly walk into the room closing the door behind me. The class is silent. The boys look me up and down, making me feel like a piece of meat. All but one, I think it's of the odd boys from earlier but I can't say for sure. "Class; this is Katie, the new girl." Says Mrs Thorpe. No shit I think to myself, and roll my eyes. Oh great, I just rolled my eyes, managed to make myself look like a bitch already. I look over to her and by the looks of it she didn't, see it.I look back at the class to see the one of the odd boys smirking at me as if he read my thoughts. Maybe we just shared the same thought, I'm pretty sure he noticed. "Take a seat Katie" Says Mrs Thorpe. It now becomes apparent to me that the only empty seat in the room is next to the odd boy. As does the rest of the class as they turn to look at him. I walk to the back of the class room and put my backpack down under the desk. My chair screeches from under the desk and sit down.
