Author's Note: My grandmother once told me about how her father would always get terrible morning sickness whenever he mother got pregnant with a new child (which including her was a whopping fifteen times. Old era okay. Late 1940s and 1950s + Catholic household = loads of children.) It turns out it's legitimate. I've checked medical websites and some men do experience what doctors call "sympathy symptoms" when their partners are pregnant. You'll see it featured in this chapter.

Chapter Two

Ryan rolled over and tapped his boyfriend incessantly. He was still a bit annoyed from being woke up so early by his cell phone's alarm. Screw early doctor's appointments.

Well, at least his stomach had decided to start acting like a normal food digesting organ again a few days before instead of treating him like he was a bulimic or something. Man, he wasn't sure if he would be able to control the urge he knew would overtake him to jump out of the master bedroom window if it was still turning today. He had to drink an entire six pack of water bottles in an hour's time for his ultrasound.

"Brendon? Check up remember honey?" Ryan continued to nudge him. Brendon moaned miserably at him.

Oh no. He only made that noise when he had a bad cold or some sort of nausea virus where Ryan had to sit up all night long with him so he would feel somewhat better. It looked like he was going to have to tuck his boyfriend back into bed after they were finished with today's medical agenda. He clearly had been given Ryan's first trimester morning sickness instead of Ryan having to suffer himself.

"I know baby." Ryan ran a hand gently over his slightly damp forehead to make sure his theory was correct. It was. Brendon had no fever.

"Ry, I can't move. I swear I'll throw up all over you." His lover was trying his hardest to hold it back right then. You could see the agonized concentration on his face.

Ryan flipped over onto his stomach which had barely swollen in the past few weeks but still caused him slight discomfort with this direct pressure on it. He grabbed the saltines he had for himself when he was ill off the bedside table. He unwrapped the packaging and gently pressed a few into his partner's palm.

"Eat those alright and just lay there while I get dressed." Ryan ruffled his hair and stood up to make his way to the dresser. He grumbled to himself as he selected pants from a drawer. Soon he was going to have to put them all away for months on end and exchange them for maternity wear or whatever.

Just so you know, Ryan was never too big on being the center of attention. Honestly he could leave that to Brendon so he was a little more than a tad uncomfortable being on the receiving end of the curious stares of women because of the fact that he was the uncommon sight of a pregnant man.

He squeezed his boyfriend's hand as he grew more and more frazzled. It was truly kind of shit that the person he always needed comfort from was the one who got him into this mess of becoming the next freak show. He was sure he wasn't being paranoid. He was absolutely positive. By the time the doctor called them back from the hospital waiting room he half expected people to have whipped their phones out by then to snap pictures of him finishing off the water he had been chugging down in the car while Brendon focused harder than he ever had in his life to keep from upchucking because of the motion.

They had both had better days. Most of us are aware of how unpleasant it is to have painful nausea but do you know how hard it is to go through the inquisition about how well you've been taking care of yourself for standard procedure while an ultrasound technician presses cold behind gel right on to your full bladder?! "It helps provide a clearer picture." Ryan winced, jaw locking as the stupidity they had fed him assaulted his mind. Please. They just wanted to torture a pregnant person.

He was so tired and not just in the frustrated sense. He literally wanted to dose off as the nurse cleaned everything off of his lower abdomen and explained that they'd be having a baby girl along with giving him the world's supply of pharmaceuticals.

A daughter was all well and good but all he wanted was one of his ever frequent naps.

When Brendon climbed into the bed with him again not only did he toss Ryan’s prenatal vitamins at him but there was also a furry presence that he had placed under his nose. Ryan cracked one eye open, about to swat him away grumpily for interrupting his slumber but then he saw Brendon’s tiny “thanks for carrying my child” present.

He blushed at his own squeal. “What have you done?!” Now he had the overwhelming urge to hug both the cutest leopard spotted kitten he had ever seen and his lover so hard that it knocked the air from their lungs.

“Brendon why?!” He stroked the infant feline as it settled on top of his chest.

“You deserve it.” Urie leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, pulling him and the new cat into his arms as he did so. “Also, he can snuggle with you when I can’t because I am working.”

“Yeah…” Ryan drifted off. He was so awkward but he had no choice but to ruin the moment here.

“How am I going to tell Spencer about this? How are you going to tell Jon? He hates me. Spencer hates you.”

“I don’t know about you,” Brendon yawned, but I do not want to tell either of our friends and business assistants about this until I get some sleep. I am exhausted.” Ryan should have known he could trust Brendon to put this off but right then, he couldn’t argue with his boyfriend’s procrastination skills even though his giving into them would mean nobody would be in the light about him being with child until the next day because the only thing they were going to do when they got up was get something to fill Ryan’s massive two person appetite.

His mouth was already watering as the cat wedged itself between their half asleep cuddling.
