Miss poster child smiles all the while
her teeth are ratty
and her hair is shaggy
But Miss poster child takes her fears all the while
and sells them in empty allies
to all the people in her head
oh miss poster child, won't you stay a while
we can shoot happiness
in our blind open veins
miss poster child she buys candy in white capsules
she says that the card was free
but her eyes will tell me no lies
miss poster child steals booze from dying old men
gives the drinks to the rich
I think she's lost her head in a ditch
oh miss poster child, why won't you stay a while
we can talk about lawyers
and all the hypocritical politicians
miss poster child smiles all damn day
but I know she won't get tired
because they've been forcing her caffeine
miss poster child barely keeps it together
she's lost all her friends
thinks wednesdays are weekends
well won't you wait for them

can't you ever get a break
i've seen you cry through smiles
and laugh through tears
because what else can you do
when you're on the tv screen
oh miss poster child! I can't believe it's been such a while
we used to sit on each others hearts
to keep them warm through starving winters
