One-Shot for Mia NUMBER ONE :)
1 ReviewsGerard is left to look after his and Hozzie's daughter for just one night. Nothing could go wrong, right?
"We'll be fine, won't we Sweetheart?" Gerard bent down and lifted up their five year old daughter Mia.
"Are you sure?" Hozzie bit her lip. It was the first time Gerard had looked after Mia by himself. Hozzie had looked after her several times while Gerard went to the studio for the day. And now Hozzie was having a night out with her friends, leaving Gerard alone with Mia for the night.
"Quit worrying, we'll be just fine, honestly." Gerard said, kissing her cheek.
"Okay but call me if anything goes wrong." Hozzie said, finally leaving the house.
"Alright then Sweetie, what do you wanna do now?" Gerard asked Mia.
"Can we go swimming plese?" Mia asked him, widening her puppy dog eyes at him.
"The swimming pool will be shut now, I'm sorry." Gerard replied, letting Mia down onto the floor.
"We can swim in the house!" Mia cried excitedly "You stay here, I'll be back soon." And with that, Mia ran off upstairs.
Gerard grinned, knowing she was just gonna run a bath and make him pretend that it was a swimming pool. He went into the living room and ficked on the TV while he waited for her.
A while later, Gerard glanced at the clock and realised Mia had been gone for just over half-an-hour. What was she doing up there? He decided he'd better go and check. He stood up and made his ways upstairs. Halfway up, he realised his feet were damp... The carpet was soaking wet "Mia!" Gerard yelled "Mia, what are you doing?"
"Making a swimming pool Daddy!" Mia called back.
Gerard ran up the rest of the stairs and down the corridor to the bathroom where he could hear the flow of running water. He shoved the door open and found water all over the floor that was at least five inches deep. It had been leaking under the door too. When he opened the door, it all splashed out into the corridor "Mia!" Gerard cried "What were you thinking?"
Mia was confused "You said I could make a swimming pool."
"I thought you meant that you'd run a bath Mia, not this!"
Mia raised her eye-brows "But I said I was going to make a swimming pool. Not a bath."
Gerard looked down at his little girl then started laughing. Mia started laughing too "I'd better get this cleaned up before Mommy gets home because otherwise she'll be mad." Gerard sighed and ran his fingers through his hair "Why don't you go downstairs and do some drawing Baby?"
"Okay. Sorry if I made a mess Daddy." Mia said, making her puppy dog eyes again.
"It's fine." Gerard bent down and gave his daughter a kiss on the cheek "Go on, go downstairs. I'll be down to make you dinner once I'm done cleaning up here." Mia smiled and skipped off downstairs happily while Gerard sighed and started mopping up. It took him about half-an-hour but he got nearly everything dry to the best of his abilities and he hoped the rest would naturally dry before Hozzie got home. He went downstairs to see what Mia wanted for dinner. She wasn't in the dining room, sitting at the table drawing, like he expected her to be. He heard the TV in the living room and went in there.
Mia was stood on the sofa, clutching the red crayon in her right hand and drawing on the walls "What are you doing?" Gerard cried "Mia, you're not supposed to draw on the walls!"
"But I wanted to surprise you." Mia said innocently "You and Mommy are always saying that the wallpaper is boring and that you're gonna do something about it but you never do. So I decided to make it more interesting." Mia pointed at a large stick figure wearing nothing and two more stick figures wearing triangle dresses "See, this is you, me and Mommy." She pointed to something else "And this is a rainbow. Then I thought I could do memory pictures about good things that have happened to us. But all I could remember was trying to make a swimming pool so I drew that."
Gerard was speechless for a moment then he sighed and said "Well it is pretty. We'll wait and see what Mommy says. I guess we were planning to change that wallpaper for ages now. This gives us a pretty conveniant excuse." He smiled "Anyway, what do you want for dinner?"
"Can we have chicken nuggets?"
"You ate the last of the chicken nuggets last night." Gerard told her "I could make you fish fingers?"
Mia pulled a disgusted face "But I don't like fish fingers as much as I like chicken nuggets."
"I know but they'll have to do." Gerard replied, ruffling her hair and then went into the kitchen to make dinner for her.
Mia got off the sofa and put her crayons away before going to the back door and unlocking it. Her parents normally left the key in the door until they went to bed and then the next day they'd put it back in when they woke up. Once the door was open, Mia hopped outside and left it open behind her then ran out into the grass. She hadn't bothered to put any shoes on and it had been raining all day. The garden was sloppy with mud.
Gerard put the fish fingers in the oven then pulled his mobile out of his pocket when he felt it vibrate - Everything okay? - H xx
Everything's fine, stop worrying and just have a good time - G xx. Gerard replied, smiling and rolling his eyes as he put his phone back into his pocket. Then he went into the living room to see if Mia had drawn any new pictures. He saw the back door open and groaned "Mia, it's a bit too dark to be outside!" Gerard looked outside. It was pretty much pitch black and they had a massive garden. He wanted to switch the back garden light on but the bulb had gone last week and they hadn't seen the point in replacing it yet "Mia!" Gerard yelled one more time then pulled on his shoes before going outside to look for her.
He started walking across the grass "Mia, come on, time to come inside now."
Mia had been round the other side of the house near the shed. She heard her Dad calling her and thought he was inside so she ran to the backdoor. She stepped inside then shut the door, locking it behind her then walked through the house, not paying any attention to the fact that she was getting muddy foot prints everywhere. And she'd thought it'd be a good idea to make mud pies so she was pretty much covered in mud from head to toe.
Gerard heard the door shut behind him and whirled around. He watched Mia lock it and then walk away "Jesus." Gerard muttered, running back to the house "Mia! Mia, open the door!" He banged loudly on the glass.
Mia heard the banging on the glass but couldn't hear her Dad shouting. She was scared that it was a monster. She whimpered and ran up the stairs then dived into her Dad's bed, pulling the covers over her. The covers just happened to be white.
Gerard groaned and looked around then found an open window. On the second floor. He groaned again and tried to climb on top of the shed to reach it.
Mia was still in Gerard's bed, her heart beating fast. There was a scrabbling noise coming from the window. Mia dared peak out from under the sheets and saw a pair of hands clinging to the edge of the window and a few grunting and grumbling noises. Mia screamed and hid under the duvet again.
It was only Gerard who was dangling dangerously as he tried to pull himself in through the bedroom window. After several minutes he finally managed it and fell to the floor of the bedroom with a loud thump, causing Mia to scream again "Mia?" Gerard asked, rubbing his head, standing up and shutting the bedroom window "Mia, it's only Daddy."
Mia re-appeared from under the duvet and smiled. Gerard didn't smile "You- You're covered in mud!" He walked over to the bed and pulled back the duvet. Of course, the white covers were now stained with the brown mud "We're gonna need to change these and give you a bath and get you into your pajamas. Go into the bathroom and take those clothes off while I strip the bed." Mia nodded and made her way to the bathroom, happy that her Daddy hadn't yelled at her.
Gerard sighed heavily when he realised Mia had been trailing muddy foot-prints through the house and wondered where else she'd managed to leave mud because he needed to clean it all up before Hozzie got home. He stripped the bed, chucked them in the washing machine and then went upstairs. He gave Mia a bath and got her into her pajamas "Daddy, I'm hungry." She told him.
"Well dinner should be- NO! The fish fingers!" Gerard cried, getting up and running downstairs. Sure enough, the kitchen stank and the fish fingers were burnt. Gerard groaned. He seemed to be doing a lot of groaning tonight. He looked at his watch "Hey Mia?" He called. Mia came downstairs into the kitchen "What do you think about going to McDonalds?"
"Will it still be open?" She asked, her eyes widening "Mommy said that it shut as soon as I got into my pajamas."
"Well it's a special occassion tonight. They know that I was left in charge of you and that I'm not perfect. They somehow knew that I'd need to go to McDonalds." Gerard said, lifting her up "Come on, let's go."
He carried her out to the car and strapped her into her car seat "Daddy?" Mia said as he got into the passengers seat.
"Yeah Sweetie?"
"I think you're perfect." Mia told him "Thank you for not shouting at me."
Gerard smiled "You're welcome Sweetie."
