"We're clearing out Cassie's room, hun, if there's anything up there you want." I made my way past my Uncle and up the stairs to Cassie's room. Noah was standing in the doorway. "Hey, buddy. You okay?" He looked up at me, and I could see he'd been crying. "No!", he yelled, "Nothing will ever be okay again!" He took off running down the stairs.

And every time I try to smile, I cry, so
I'll just hide my face
Get out of my way
Don't wanna talk about it

I walked into Cassie's room and flopped onto the bed. I looked around. Everything was just the way she'd left it. I laid back against Cassie's pillow and closed my eyes.

And I'll be fine
I just need some time

And then I started to cry.

"Lizzy, it'll be fine! It's just a stupid party! Why do you have to get all upset?" I rolled my eyes, and threw a pillow at Cassie's face. She dodged it. I sighed. "I don't know, I just have a bad feeling about this, okay?" She rolled her eyes. "Lizzy, it's just a party. What's the worst that could happen?"

I went the wrong way
But I'm not lost, it's a good mistake
I saw the day break
I'm gonna shout about it

"Cassie, no! You're fourteen, you can't drive! Don't do this, Cassie, please!" She hopped behind the wheel of Daniel's car. "I've driven around the ranch hundred's of times, Elizabeth, it's fine, okay?" I shook my head. "No, it is not fine, Cassidy! It's dark, you don't have a license. Please, Cassie, don't!"

Oh, and every time I turn around
I find that, I'm alone again
I've had a bad day

"Remember that time when we snuck out and went to the movies last year? Nothing bad happened then!" I rolled my eyes. "Cassie, this is different! You can't drive a car! You're fourteen, Cassie!"

"Lizzy, no, don't go in there. Nick and Sharon are with her now...it's time to say goodbye, Liz."

I opened my eyes and shot straight up on the bed. It took me a moment to realize my surroundings. Oh. Cassie's room. I must have fallen asleep. I got of f the bed and stumbled across the room. I stopped when I saw the sparkle of Cassie's friendship bracelet on her dresser.

I picked it up, and carefully slid it around my wrist. I smiled. There. Now Cassie, my best friend in the whole world...my cousin...my sister....was always with me. Where she belonged.
