When I have a feeling that something is up... that feeling is never wrong... ~Colorful Shadow
A week has passed since I brought Spike in base for the first time. Everyone in the base enjoyed Spike being around, but he took a lot of getting used to.
Try walking around with a dog right behind you all the time and have him stick his nose up your butt to smell you. Yeah... that took a lot of getting used to. It was hard to walk around with him right on your tale. It didn't really bother anyone... except Party Poison. Spike liked to bother him.
Party ran in the living room one day with dog spit on his face, Spike obviously gave him a good morning kiss. Syanide Skull had to calm Party down because his face was as red as his hair, which is a bad thing because we have to live with this guy. It's pretty entertaining to see Party blow his top. One time he fainted from holding all his anger... and that day was when he saw all the dog hair in the car. Oh how I got a good laugh. Fun Ghoul did too. In fact we both laughed at that for at least a whole day, which was actually the only time we did something other than argue.
It worried the both of us, and it worried everyone in base too, because all we ever did was start a fight with each other. This was the first time in a while since we actually bonded like that. That was a one day thing though because the next day Ghoul said it was my fault there was dog hair in the car, and it was, but I got annoyed because he would always choose Party's side. And that argument ended with Ghoul having bits of tissue up his nose from the nose bleed I gave him. Oh how he looked good with red on his face. At least he learned a lesson... don't ever fuck with me and choose sides... because you will end up with something broken and it might be your face.
But also a week has passed since anyone has seen a Drac, or killed one. It's strange for something like this to happen. Usually we would be outside in the zones, kicking ass. It's on the Killjoy schedual. We wake up, eat, kick ass, go home, eat, hang out, sleep, then repeat. But no... instead it's wake up, eat, hang out, practice kicking ass, eat, then sleep.
It's boring to be locked up in the base, there is nothing to do in this hellhole besides die of boredom. And we only went out once and that was to go in town and get supplies. It was me, Radio Harlequin, Kobra Kid, and Fun Ghoul who went to town to get stuff. Since there was no Dracs, Party said that it would be a good advantage to get things. And it was so fucking simple it wasn't even funny! There wasn't any Dracs in Los Angeles... or should I say Battery City.
Nobody was out on patrol and it was easy to get in and get out. And with our five finger discount in all stores, we filled up the Trans-Am in no time! We got food, extra clothes, and drinks. And since we were in no rush we even got a few board games, dog toys, and even stole a motherfucking TV! Everyone else seemed to enjoy everything but I didn't. If nobody was on patrol in Battery City then something was up and I had a feeling.
Of course, whenever I brought up the subject, everyone told me not to worry and enjoy the only break we would probably have. But I wouldn't forget about everything. If I had a feeling something was up, something was up. I always had these kinds of feelings when I was thirteen. And while everyone else had their guard down in base, I was in the training room, practicing my fighting skills. And one day after I couldn't bare to have this feeling again, I decided to bring the subject up again.
It was just an ordinary day. Fun Ghoul, Radio Harlequin, and Missile Kid were playing with Spike, playing fetch with him and petting him, Spike enjoying the attention he was getting. Kobra Kid and Party Poison were playing a game of Trouble, having a usual brotherly argument when it came to board games, Party accusing Kobra for cheating. Nightmare Fuel and Jet Star were arguing over the best band, Nightmare saying Smashing Pumpkins and Jet saying Black Flag. Syanide Skull was drawing in her sketch pad, sitting on the red lounge chair we had. Toxic Rayine and Jack of Hearts were watching the news on TV since there was nothing else to watch. And as for I, I was sitting and about to speak my mind.
I cleared my throat to get everyone's attention and did. Everyone looked at me with different expressions on their faces. "Shadow? What's up?" Jack of Hearts asked, turning of the TV, earning a playful slap from Toxic for turning off the news, which can actually be interesting.
I took in a deep breath and let it out, looking at the ground. "Well... I've been thinking..."
"Oh no... she's been thinking..." Fun Ghoul mumbled, scratching Spike behind the ears, making the dog shake it's leg.
"Shut it Ghoul." Fun Ghoul just stuck his middle finger at me and I looked up, doing the same. When he stuck his tongue out at me, I looked back down. "Anyway... as I was saying, don't you guys think it's a little strange for the zones to be this quiet? No sign of Dracs or Korse anywhere?" I then looked up at everyone, my hot pink bangs bugging me. "Aren't you a little worried about this?"
Party sighed and face palmed. "Seriously, Shadow? This topic again?" He gave me an annoyed look, his jaw going to the right. "I told you that there is nothing to worry about."
I crossed my arms. "That's what you said when you took Missile Kid in and said she wouldn't get kidnapped. But guess what happened?"
"We got her back though. Nothing bad or major happened."
"Nothing bad or major? Who was the one who almost got killed? Oh wait..." I snapped my fingers and stood up, pointing both of my index fingers at him. "You."
"But I'm still here. We're all still here. Nobody dead. Now... if you bring up this subject about the missing Dracs again... I will scream."
"Just like a little girl."
Party got up from his seat and shot daggers towards my way. "Shadow, you are not the leader of us right? Right! I'm the leader and if something is wrong, I will handle it. And right now, I just want everyone to enjoy themselves while we have this break. So would it be that hard, not to act like a little bitch for once and have a little fun?"
"Party!" Syanide snapped, causing him to look at her. "That's enough."
"No... let Red Riding Hood talk," I said, getting a death glare from Party.
He walked up to me and looked me dead in the eye. "I'm sorry... but what did you just call me?"
"You heard me. Red. Riding. Hood."
"You really shouldn't call me that name. I could kick you out of the group you know."
I looked at the ground and then heard Jet Star and Missile Kid say something at the same time. They knew what I was going to say. "Don't say it Shadow," they whispered.
Party continued to look in my brown eyes. "Well? Are you going to say something little girl?"
I sighed. "Sorry," I started. "I just couldn't hear anything over your shit breath..."
And with that he walked away from me and stormed out of the room, going into his room, slamming the door shut. Syanide went after Party, going to calm him down.
That was probably the first time Party and I argued like that. Other times, an argument lie that would be with Ghoul, but this was just horrible. He just got so annoying and he always uses himself as the leader to intimidate people. It's just... GAH!
"Drama queen..." I sat back down again and crossed my arms. Everyone just looked at me as if I gone mad! I looked at everyone and scowled at them all. "What the fuck are guys looking at?"
"Shadow, do you think that was a little too much?" Kobra asked, sitting on the floor next to Radio and putting his arm around her. "I mean, I'm not going on his side because he's my older brother but... you could have eased down a bit."
I sighed and realized he was right. "I know Kobra. It's just, this feeling has been killing me for such a long time for the past week and everyone has been doing nothing but..."
"Letting their guard down?" Toxic asked, looking at me with her piercing blue eyes.
"Don't worry Shadow!" Radio said cheerfully. "We're not really letting our guard down. It's just... when else are we going to have a break like this?" she asked, cuddling next to Kobra.
I smiled at her. "You're right... I guess I'm just a little tense..."
"A LITTLE?" Ghoul asked, his hazel eyes wide. He then burst out laughing, making Spike jump up and look at him. "OH GOD! I'M GONNA PISS MY PANTS!"
Everyone just looked at him rolling on the floor, laughing like a madman. I then ended up walking to the coffee table with one of Spike's toys and threw one at his face, causing him to stop laughing. "MY FACE!" he shouted, rubbing his face. "MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!"
"Beautiful? Ha... no..." Everyone laughed for a little bit until Syanide walked back in the room, then everybody stopped.
"How's Party?" Nightmare Fuel asked, messing with her cat ears on her hoodie.
"He's a little pissed but he's over it."
I sighed... at least he's only a little pissed... "God, I wish I could take back what I said..." I mumbled. "I just know something is up... and he won't notice."
Jet Star walked up to me and gave me a hug. He was like my older brother, the older brother I've never had. "It's Party. He's always like this." He then walked over to Jack of Hearts. "He won't be mad for long."
"He's right Shadow," Hearts added, hugging Jet. "He's a diva... divas act this way."
I smiled. "You're right... but if something does happen... he owes me..."
And lets just say my suspicion was right. That night when I took Spike outside so he could use the bathroom, the desert was dark. The only light was from the full moon above and the stars. It was quiet out in the desert and it was actually nice at night.
"Okay Spike. Just hurry up and do your doggy doo so we can go back inside. I still have the feeling and I want to get back inside as soon as possible." Spike barked as if he knew what I said and ran off behind a bush. I sighed and leaned up against the diner, waiting for the dog.
I was just messing with my fingernails, picking at whatever black nail polish I had on left. I then gripped my stomach and groaned for it churned. I thought I was going to vomit, but I realized it was just the feeling. It seemed to get worse every second. "Oh I hope Spike hurries up."
By now, I felt cold, and my hands were shaking. I have never felt this way since forever. When I was thirteen and the incident happened. But this was worse. "Spike!" I called out. I heard Spike bark and I groaned. I felt sick...
Then... I heard it. The familiar sound a helicopter would make when it was soaring in the sky. My whole body was shaking as I heard the sound of at least three helicopters coming my way. Then I saw the bright lights. The search lights people would have when searching for someone or something.
I gasped and try to get a hold of myself. "SPIKE!" I shouted the loudest I could. Spike appeared from behind the bush and I ran to the doors of the diner, my legs barely holding me up. "HURRY AND GET INSIDE!" Spike just stood there and I just looked at the helicopters coming towards us. We had to get inside before those helicopters got here. "SPIKE! HURRY UP PLEASE!" Spike then realized I was very scared and ran inside the open doors, I followed after, slamming the diner door shut and locked it. I then pulled down all the blinds in the diner and fell on my knees, sighing.
The bright lights of the helicopters shone and the sounds of the helicopters were so loud. Thank God we got inside. "That was too close for my liking..."
I walked Spike down to base and was met up with Fun Ghoul, who was smirking. "I bet I could take Spike out and back in faster than you," he said.
I just nodded and sat on the lounge chair, my head in my hands. Ghoul noticed something was wrong and sat next to me. "Shadow? You alright? Usually you would have punched me or kicked me for saying that."
I started to rock back and forth, still shaking a little. "Shadow? Seriously... what's wrong? Did something happen out there?" he asked, concern was heard in his voice. You would never hear Ghoul like this and it was pretty freaky for me to hear him like this.
I looked at him and nodded. "You didn't here any of that?" I asked him, close to being in tears.
I gulped. "Remember how I said that I knew something was up?" He nodded. "Well, something was up. Three things in fact. And they seemed to be searching for something..."
Ghoul's eyes widened when he realized what I was talking about. "Okay... you stay here. I'm going to get everyone." I nodded and watched as he left the room.
When I have a feeling something is up... that feeling is never wrong...
