Yesterday’s makeup on your face,
Never been such a beautiful disgrace,
A small smile can hide a lot,
But nothing could muffle that final gunshot.

On no one you can depend,
Living life without a friend,
Forever fated to pretend,
Hide a broken heart you couldn’t mend.

A bullet straight to the brain,
And those around you go insane,
The target was missed, the bullet flew away,
Hidden in a corner, no one heard you say.

I have no one on whom I can depend,
I’m living my life without a friend,
I’m forever fated to pretend,
Hiding a broken heart that I can’t mend.

Sew your mouth to cover a shout,
Don’t ever let them figure you out,
They’ll taint, destroy, make you impure,
With verbs and words built to lure.

Summer sun of a winter’s day,
For their sins, you take the blame,
Blame it all on a numbed shell,
That’s heading straight for a frozen hell.

Time tells us where we should be,
Teaches us what these things should mean,
But there’s never enough to be satisfied,
And not enough to wipe the tears you’ve cried.

Broken hearts hang from ropes over shelves,
Belonging to our past and former selves,
Break away from this negativity,
Reinvent yourself with positivity.

You’ll learn more as you grow older,
What’s black and white and red all over?
You are, you’re fighting yourself again,
And the outcome is always the same.

Fooled into thinking that you’re winning when you’re not,
A quivering mess recalls a gunshot,
There’s a graveyard of memories buried in your skull,
Full of words of hurt and you can’t tell a soul.

Tomorrow seems so far away,
You don’t know if you’ll get through today,
Yesterday was so long ago,
And you’re the only one who seems to know.

Today is yesterday’s tomorrow,
And even then you were hollow,
Endless time wears on and on,
Would anyone notice if you were gone?

You try to lie but the words won’t come,
Battered, bruised, broken, the fight is done,
But the answer had always been inside of you,
And now you’re free to start anew.
