Okay so here's an update on all stories, a blanket ban lifted, and a possibly tricky question that I can't answer myself.
- I don't think the character in question will cause a problem. I know you don't think of gay people as the stereotype, and most people do have a good sense of humor about that stuff.
Author's responseSee, that's the thing. He's not even technically gay. He's got the ability to change his appearance and gender at will, so he is either straight or gay but he doesn't really seem to like his girlfriend all that much.
Plus I've got another character that uses a lot of bad language. But whatever, it's just words I can get past that.
I'm just going to try REALLY HARD to not typecast this one.
- Typecasting is fine, besides, stereotypes exist for a reason. He sounds like an awesome character.
Author's responseIt's not just him I'm worried about. I had a bit of a think and just a lot of the characters push the envelope quite a bit. Because I've got Sassy Gay Antagonist, Slutty Thirteen year old Deejay, one of the others is going to be transgendered (Which I've never written, and I'm kind of freaked out about it) and I've got a foulmouthed Asian girl who owns the bench press and lives in the weight room.
I am concerned about my writing future.
