5 ReviewsAtlanta has a another secret (lol, another! all of my stories have her with a secret practically) and she keeps it hidden pretty well. Until someone finds out! What's gonna happen? (Don't wanna giv...
Atlanta panted as she walked down the street towards the nearby forest. She always went there after her dancing, and pretended she'd been hunting all day. Since she was so good, she usually killed a rabbit or fox or something before anyone came to pick her up, so that they'd think she'd been there all day. She was carrying back a small raccoon that had been lying around, barely moving. It didn't even have a chance to escape before Atlanta had shot it with the cross-bow she always hid behind a certain bush. After walking to the opposite side of the forest and looking around, she saw the red motorcycle owned by Archie in the parking lot. She searched for him, but didn't see him anywhere. Then she noticed him throwing out a medium take-out coffee cup, and then heading towards his vehicle. He was carrying his keys. Then he looked up and saw Atlanta, and waved to her with his free hand. They walked to the vehicle and somehow managed to fit on with Atlanta's cross-bow and 'hunting' bag. Archie started the motorcycle and headed off down the street. After less than 10 minutes, they reached the Brownstone and walked inside.
"Hey guys! What's up?" Atlanta asked cheerily, as everyone looked up to see her walk in with Archie. Theresa and Odie were no where to be seen, but Neil was watching TV with Herry, while Jay sat at the kitchen counter and prepared what was probably his dinner. He smiled as they walked in, but nobody answered her question. They all seemed to off in their own little worlds today. Atlanta was about to head off to her room and skin the animals, when she heard Archie come up behind her. "Hey Atlanta, you wanna go for a run or something?" He smiled at her and had such a desiring look on his face that she couldn't help but feel bad for him. "Actually, I'd love to go but I'm really tired after-" she stopped, about to say 'all of that dancing', but continued hurriedly, "being out all day. And last night I didn't get much sleep." He nodded his head but didn't answer, when she declined his offer. "Well, what's the worst that could happen? Come on, let's go!" she sighed, finally giving in. He perked up, and she laughed at him as they went to change into more appropriate outfit. After 10 minutes, they were outside, and ready to go for a run.
They breathed heavily, holding their sides to try and get rid of the pain from the running. After another race, Atlanta had been beaten again. She was so tired after her dancing, that she was still quite tired. Archie was talking to her, saying something about how she was losing her touch, and he was going to be able to beat her way more easily some day if she kept the pace she was at. But she didn't pay much attention, because she was thinking about her date with Charlie. It had been so perfect, exactly how she'd planned it would be. He probably didn't look at it like a date, but it never hurt to fantasize, right? After her dance, she'd packed up all of her stuff and was ready to leave. By that time Charlie was at the front door of the building, and waiting for her, they'd walked to the coffee shop where she'd seen Archie near, and gotten two medium double doubles, and each had ordered biscotti to go with it. After almost a two hour conversation, she decided that Archie would be waiting for her soon, and that she should probably head out. So she said good-bye to Charlie, and he kissed her on the cheek. She left, blushing wildly, and feeling all of the butterflies and happiness inside of her. Then that was when she returned to the forest to hunt down something, and grab her stuff.
She stopped thinking about her wonderful time when she noticed she was all alone now, and realized Archie had suddenly disappeared. He'd been there only a few seconds ago, or was it minutes? She wasn't sure; it could've been hours for all she knew! Then there was a rustling in the bushes, and she walked towards it. She spotted a quick dash of purple hair streaking towards the direction of the Brownstone, but she caught up to it. She pounced on him, and shouted, "Gotcha!" just as she saw Archie panic stricken face turn slightly towards her. He looked like his life had been turned into a dark, depressing mix of confusion and sadness. But she just laughed and said, "What's with you? Did you see Cronus in the park or somethin'?" She tried to smile, but he looked so sad and confused she stopped. Then she cocked her head, showing him that she had no idea what was going on. He closed his eyes momentarily, and began to get up from under Atlanta. They had been so close, and Atlanta found it kind of exhilarating.
"Atlanta, were you listening to anything I told you?" She looked away as they sat on the grass next to each other, feeling bad that she'd ignored him totally. "No," she answered sulkily. He siged, and looked at her directly. "What were you thinking about?" It was her time to sigh this time, and she made it a long one, as if trying to avoid speaking the truth, as if that by stalling, somehow time would pass and it'd all be over. But that didn't happen, so she said, "Well, after I went to my... favourite hunting spot, I met this guy. He's really nice, and I kinda like him a lot. We went to get some coffee and had a great time." She smiled again, forgetting about the real world for a second and dreaming of the wonderful guy she'd met. "Actually, he kinda reminded me of you," she said as she felt embarrassed for revealing so much. Never, in her life, had she acted so... girlish. She had never really fallen in love, or told anyone about it. It was a whole different side of Atlanta that even she'd never met before, and didn't know who it was for a little while.
Then Archie spoke up and said to her quietly so that she had to bend towards him slightly to hear, "Atlanta, you know Charlie?" she was surprised at how he'd found this out, and was fearful that her secret of dancing had been revealed. But he continued, "Well, when you were thinking about Charlie, I was telling you who he was. It was the hardest thing I've ever done Atlanta, and you ignored me!" he shouted this, and a little tear fell on the ground, sliding off of his ankle brace as it fell. Then she suddenly discovered who he was, and gasped. Archie was the same person as Charlie! When he'd walked out of the practice room, she hadn't even thought for a moment about his rolled up pants and the shiny brace on his ankle. It was a brace only crafted by the gods, one of a kind. It was so obvious, but why? "Why Archie? Why did you pretend to be someone you're not?" She was crying too now, but he'd managed to hold back the tears finally. "Because Atlanta. It was the only way to get to know you better. Because I love you, and I couldn't say it to you when I was just/ 'Archie'/, I could never do that. You would never go out with me."
He wasn't crying, but they both knew he wanted to. But she just laughed at him, and he laughed back. They both thought that it was funny, but didn't know exactly what was so funny yet. Then they stopped and Atlanta said, "Archie, you've done some pretty stupid things in life, but this had got to be the dumbest of all." They laughed some more, until they gathered their thoughts and said, "Well, that was weird." Atlanta wiped her tears, and said, "So I guess you know about my dancing then, huh?" He nodded and said, "What about me?" She was shocked for a second and remembered how good 'Charlie' had been at dancing. "You mean you actually dance too?" he laughed and said, "I may have done some dumb things, but it took you a little while to figure that out, didn't it?" He smirked at her and he punched his arm, and he rubbed it, pretending to be hurt, even though it barely left a mark on him.
"So, I guess we know about our little secrets now, anything else you wanna confess to me?" He waited for her as she thought and said, "Yeah, come here and I'll show you." She leaned forward a bit, and he did the same. When they were close enough to kiss, she leaned a little closer and punched him again, but this time it was unexpected. He winced, because this time it was thrice as hard as the one before. "Hey!" he shouted as they ran across the park, forgetting that they were still tired from the run before. They ran for almost half an hour, still chasing each other.
Pretty soon they reached the dance hall, where they'd be performing the next day at the recital, and began to walk side by side. "So why did you make fun of dancing if you knew I liked it so much?" She'd known Charlie for almost a year now, ever since the day she'd started dancing at the Dancing Hall for Performing Arts and Shows. Then she realized what kind of a question she'd asked, and groaned. "Well, you see, it's really easy actually. When you spend over 10 years of your life trying to build the reputation of being the tough guy, it would kind of be a dumb idea to go up to someone and say, 'Hey there, did you know that I have a secret obsession with dancing?'. Do you get what I'm saying?" She smacked her forehead at the stupid question she'd asked, and the obvious answer he'd given.
"Well, if you're gonna start acting all weird on me, not that it's unusual or anything, but you could at least tell me how you found out about me liking dance." He thought for a moment as they walked and said, "One day, when everyone was out of the Brownstone and you were the only one there, I had to come back 'cause I forgot my wallet. I heard the music blaring, so I walked in really slowly. I saw you dancing in the entire place, and you had on those ballet shoes. So that's how I found out. It's actually pretty funny, 'cause I'd already been dancing for 3 years, and look at how many people know about my secret. Hmm?" He grinned at her, and she mumbled something under her breath like, show-off, or something. They finally reached the entrance of the dance hall, and walked in. They headed down towards the auditorium, and climbed up onto the stage. Both of them looked around for a minute, before they started dancing. So for the second time today, they were both showing off their best dance moves and competing. Only this time, they were doing it together.
