whatever, here's chapter for so just freakin read it! lol. K, just hope you liked it and i thank god i got a chance to update!
Archie was so nervous he practically had tears in his eyes. He didn't want to go on stage, but he had no choice. "You ready?" his partner asked, seeing that Archie was on the verge of crying. The first act was about to finish, and then he'd be on stage with his companion, Loretta. He could tell that she admired him in more ways than one. But she just didn't understand that he would never like her back, only as friends. Then the song ended and the primary ballet class came off of the stage. The helper was another girl who happened to be Loretta's sister. They hugged as Jennifer said, "Good luck Loretta. You'll do awesome! And I think Archie's staring at you," she said quietly and giggled. The two were so annoying; he couldn't stand being two years older than Loretta, who thought she was obviously going to be asked out by him. "So you think he's going to ask me out tonight?" she asked her sister in a tone which she thought Archie couldn't hear. The sister's giggled and Archie thought rolled his eyes. One of his theories was right. But Loretta was wrong.
He and Atlanta had already agreed that they were boyfriend and girlfriend, but not in the cheesy kind of way. He walked with Loretta to the side of the stage, and the music was about to start. She winked at him and smiled as prettily as she could, but he just side stepped away from her. She slumped over slightly, but never showed her disappointment. "I bet we're gonna-" she began, but was cut off by the music starting. Archie lifted a heel and tapped his way onto the stage, while Loretta followed shortly after. They tapped through the whole song, or at least Archie did. Every 30 seconds or so Loretta would stumble or miss her cue or her tune would be off or she'd manage to mess up the dance somehow.
He noticed that she was still smiling and whispered to him after their dance, "Hey, i think we did it perfect. What about you?" He continued on his way, not wanting to encourage her any further. But she raced up to him and said cheerfully, "So what're you doing after? I was thinking maybe you and me could-" She was cut short once again by Archie saying, "I'm going out with my girlfriend," and she stopped. "You're- /girlfriend/?" she stuttered, unable to hold back tears. "Yeah. You know Atlanta?" She nodded her head. "Her. I asked her out yesterday. Problem wit that?" he asked her, showing no sympathy whatsoever. He was angry with her for not having tried harder at the routine. He'd seen her do better before, that was for sure. He walked out of the door that led to the stage and heard soft sniffles behind him. But he didn't care; the only girl he cared about was Atlanta. He walked to the separate room for the male dancers, and was greeted by 3 familiar voices.
"Hey! Great job Charlie, but you're not seriously into that chick, are you?" asked a 17 year old Santiago. He shook his head and said, "No way! She's a total creep." Then 11 year old Daniel asked him when his next dance was, and he and 14 year old Chris talked for a while until it was time for Daniel's hip-hop dance. He left, and they talked some more before Santiago asked, "Hey Charlie, who's that girl you were with today? I saw you two walking in the hall earlier." Everyone still referred to him as Charlie, since it was only Atlanta who knew his secret. He replied coolly, "Atlanta, she's my girlfriend." The two boys nudged him, and they began the little jokes and congratulations and he smiled. It was great to know that he had a girlfriend, and that people weren't making smart comments about how she wasn't worth it. He was glad that other people liked Atlanta too. "So you taking her out right after you're hip-hop dance?" Santiago asked him. "Nah, she's gotta perform too so I'm gonna wait 'til after her dance solo. But pretty much the same idea." They nodded and Daniel came back in the room, and said, "Hey guys! There's been an injury! You gotta come see!"
They all looked around and asked who it was. "I dunno. Some girl was in the practicing room when she went over the time limit I think. Some other girl slammed open the door right when she was on point and standing right in front of it. She broke her toes and got slammed so hard that she went flying across the room. She's unconscious I'm pretty sure. And the show's been stopped for now." They all grinned and said, "And how do you know all of this info?" He shook his head and said, "'Cause I was there when it happened!" They all remembered that in order to get to the stage, you had to pass by the practice room. They left the room as Archie said, "Wow, someone must've really wanted to get some practice time in. Talk about desperate."
After reaching the practice room, they saw a swarm of people but managed to get a peak at the person who had so carelessly hurt the dancer. She was sobbing uncontrollably, and Archie gasped. "Dude, isn't that the creepy chick who you tapped with?" asked Chris," and Archie nodded. She was screaming and people were trying to comfort her when her sister looked up from walking beside Loretta and yelled out to Archie, "This is all your fault! If you hadn't been so mean then-" but her voice was drowned out by the others who were talking and wanting to know what had happened. Then Archie saw a stretcher come out of the room and a police officer trying to get people out of the way.
But it was too late; Archie had seen the victim and rushed forward, shoving people with all his might. In the stretcher, lay an unconscious Atlanta. She was motionless and the police officer tried to tell Archie to back away, but he shouted at him, "That's my girlfriend! I need to go with her!" The officer stood still for a second before moving out of his way. Archie rushed to the hurt Atlanta, and walked with her while begging her for forgiveness, even though she couldn't hear a word he was saying. Then after the crowd thinned and they got Atlanta into the ambulance, Archie hopped in and they drove to the hospital.
She'd been checked in the ambulance and Archie was told that she had 3 broken toes, and broken arm, and that her arm had also been pulled out of its socket. She had a serious concussion along with her loss of consciousness, and that it would be hard to get the arm back in its socket sine it was also broken. Then he was told that her lungs had both been damaged, and there was a slight chance she might not make it. his heart broke. But he didn't care; he just wanted her to get better. He wanted her to perform at the recital and pretend that everything was alright. So he took out his cell phone and dialed a number, while Atlanta sat in pain. Once, she had opened her eyes and thought she'd seen Archie but was convinced it was a dream. After all, the pain was clouding her vision. So she went back to sleep, as her boyfriend felt the guilt rushing through him. Archie tried to stop thinking about that by praying that Atlanta wouldn't die, he loved her far too much. Because if she died, he wouldn't be able to live with himself. And then he made up his mind and decided that if she died, he died. No, that wasn't a decision; it was a promise, to the one he loved.
