  Wait, where's your story? I think you misplaced where to put the text. The two beginning paragraphs are good, but your writing style keeps changing from formal to informal, which is not good. I like the formal to start the story, but watch for "You see" and "should've" ; these slang terms are said by people and no one is talking. And it sounds more like Sci-fi than fantasy.
