What If...
He woke up from yet another nightmare drenched in sweat. In his dream he again saw those golden cat-like eyes, so cold, so unfeeling, staring at him, through him, as if he was an insignificant bug on the ground, something to be stepped on and then forgotten.
He got up out of bed and made himself a cup of coffee, knowing that he wouldn't be able to sleep any more this night. Sitting at the tiny kitchen table, he once again pondered "what if?"
What if he had found me first?
What if he Ma-kun and Ken hadn't been there?
What if he hadn't stopped with poor Ma-kun but decided to continue with the beatings?
What if...
He played these "What if?" games with himself on nights like these, just to remind himself that he was still alive and relatively unharmed.
Unless you count the lack of sleep.
