The Buckskin Bullet
(An Ode to Braidy and Biscuit)

The sight of a flowing tail and tossed mane
Danced in Braidy's dreams.
A buckskin mare, flying
Across fields of wheat and barley

The sound of pounding hooves
In pursuit of favored prey:
Coyote, deer,
Such is the way Braidy sees it.

But Biscuit, however fair,
Prefers her prey of oats,
Carrots and watermelon flavored
Horse cookies

She stretches her neck,
Not for speed,
But to stop Braidy from
Eating her apple.

The Buckskin Bullet,
Maybe one day...
