Dear Soldier

Scream me a lullaby,
Whisper me the tale
Of a soldier with a heart full of courage
For his country, never he'd fail.
Die with me, dear soldier,
For at least we'd be proud
Look up at the stormy sky
Disappear like an evaporated cloud
"Do you think anyone will miss us?"
The soldier asks me as he turns 'round
Before I get to answer,
He's fallen to the ground.
Tears well in my bloodshot eyes
I bring the gun to my head.
We're dying like the bravest.
We're courageous, now we're dead.
Whisper me the tale
