wtf?! another update?! haha not like anyone cares bahah
The bell above the door rang and I jumped to a standing position, trying to look lively for the customers. It was only Evan that approached the desk. "Holy shit you scared me," I said, laughing and walking around to hug her.
"Sorry," she said, half smiling. "I got your note..."
I had forgotten about that. Yeah, I was so lame, that I wrote a note. "Good, I knew I heard you say it..."
"I meant it.," she said, staring at the floor.
"How'd your visit go?" I asked.
She let out a small laugh. "There's only one way it can go with Frank."
"Oh... I'm sorry Evan."
"Its not your fault he's the way he is." she said. I lead her behind the counter. She occupied the computer chair and spun around a few times before I asked her what happened. "He has some crazy notion that we are going to get back together if this...." she motioned to her torso, "THING is his."
"Well did you tell him the reality of the situation?"
"He doesn't understand."
"What's there to understand?" I asked.
She shrugged. "I don't know. He's just... Frank."
I nodded. "Yup,"
"When's your shift over? Want me to bring you lunch or coffee or something?" She asked, standing up and sliding her hands around my waist.
"I get off in an hour, you can just hang out here."
"Won't you get in trouble?" she gasped.
"Nah," I said, smiling.
She returned the grin. "I had a really good talk with Mikey last night." she started. "I think everything will work out for the best you know?"
I chuckled. "You are retardedly optimistic you know that?"
"Shut up!" she yelled, playfully swatting me in the arm. "I want to be optimistic about it. That's how YOU should be too mister."
I let out a dramatic sigh. "Fine,"
The hour passed quickly enough, and I clocked out just as the next employee came in to start their shift. We grabbed a bit and Evan slowly convinced me that maybe things would be okay. We could only hope.
Mikey told me that today was the day Frank finished his 30 day program. I hadn't gone back to visit him after our awkward little conversation. I was back at my apartment now and I had absolutely no idea what to expect.
Sure enough there was a buzz at the intercom. I reluctantly answered. "Um, hi?"
"Hey Evan. It's Frank, you gonna let me in?"
So predictable. "Sure," I said, unlocking the door. fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fu- My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. "Its open." I said.
He walked him smiling so big it made my cheeks hurt. "What did you need?" I asked.
"Oh I left some of my stuff here, thought I'd come pick it up." he said, looking me up and down. "You look good." he said it so casually that it was suspicious.
"Thanks...?" I replied. "What did you leave here, I'll go get it for you,"
"I know where it is," he said. "I'll be right back." and he just waltzed into my room and grabbed a few shirts out of a drawer and walked back out. He set them by the door and then walked back over to me. "I mean it, you look great."
I gave a sarcastic smile, "Uh.. Kay?"
"I should go," he said.
"You don't have to," I said, my brain evidently having lost control of my mouth. What the fuck was I saying? "Do you... want a coffee or something?"
He gave me that painfully huge smile again, "No, no its okay. I really should go. Hey, we're having a show tonight. You and Gerard can make an appearance can't you?"
I opened my mouth, this time wanting words to come out. But no.
"What?" he asked.
"What is with you?" is all managed to say.
He furrowed his brow in confusion, "What are you talking about?"
"You're acting way different! What kind of medication did they give you in that place?"
He just laughed. "Anyway. The shows at seven. I hope I'll see you there." Again he smiled. Then left.
After probably ten minutes of just standing there completely dumbfounded, I called Gerard asking him if going to the show would be okay. I left out the rest of the story. He agreed and we decided to meet at the venue at 6:30. Absolutely NO outfits look good on you when you have an ever growing mass on your stomach. I had to settle loose jeans and a baggy band t-shirt. Ugh.
I met Gerard outside and we decided to get in early. It wouldn't really matter either way for me. I would have to sit at the bar.
"I'll sit with you," Gerard reminded me.
"You don't have to,"
"I want to,"
I smiled at him and took a seat. I spotted Frank talking to some important looking people. Guilt washed over me, as I thought about how good he looked. He glanced over at me and caught me blatantly staring right at him. I just smiled guiltily as he walked toward me.
"You came!"he said, pulling me into an intensely awkward hug.
"Mmhmm!!" I forced out.
"I should get my lazy ass up there and help them set up," he said, looking toward the stage. "You guys wanna go for coffee or something after?"
Gerard cut me off, "Sure,"
"Great, I'll meet you out front," he waved as he disappeared into the crowd of people gathered at the front.
"What the fuck was that?" I asked, turning around in the chair, leaning my elbows on the bar.
"We have to be civil with each other Evan, you want help from him if its his don't you?" he asked.
I sighed and slowly nodded, "I hate it when your right you know that?" I asked jokingly.
He smiled, "Yeah, I know,"
The show was about to start. So I didn't have much time to talk to Frank. I told Evan I'd be right back and wandered off to find him.
I spotted him near the stage chatting with some people that I didn't know. I asked if I could borrow him and pulled him away.
"What's up Gee?" he asked, looking genuinely concerned.
"What are you trying to pull here Frank?" I asked.
He laughed. "Nothing, Gerard, really. I needed help and I got. I feel better now, and no one is even happy for me,"
He was so hard to read. It wasn't exactly easy to trust him after everything that happened. Against my better judgement, I decided to buy it. "I'm sorry, I am happy for you...its just hard, y'know?"
He smiled, "Yeah I know. I gotta go though, I'll see you after the show okay?"
Evan gave me a big smile as I walked toward her. I kissed her and sat down next her her on a bar stool. She grabbed my hand, and looked over at me. "I love you,"
"I love you too," I said. I loved our little...moments.
A/N: here's the deal. i need more reviews. apparently no one likes this story, and if you do? you aren't showing it very well, and i'm just going to quit posting if i don't get more input. :(
